NBC UW/Nubb Discussion

For what it's worth, Washington was #7 in the country against the run heading into last week's game (yes, it was very early in the season), and we ran for 300 yards on them. We ran at-will on them in the second half, too.

This was a Washington team that returned four starters from last year's D Line. They're not bad, and we still ran on them.

Specifically regarding Flutie's comments - brilliant! Make Martinez pass, because that's not the strong suit in his game. Unfortunately, his analysis leaves out the fact that we've run the Option maybe 15% of our plays, and the fact that we have four more-than-capable RBs that Martinez can dish the ball to.

Washington's game plan was to take away Martinez' running game. He only ran for 83 yards and a TD as a result. Unfortunately, he also passed for 155 yards and two TDs. So simply taking away his running game won't get it done.

Unfortunately, Martinez will probably not have to pass much, and most of what he does pass will probably be gas.
