Wyoming has invested millions and millions in infrastructure and facilities upgrades. The IPF, luxury suites, paved parking to name a few. Everything is in place except a bad-ass football team. We are so close and on the cusp of turning this around and from turning this place into a dynasty where both coaches and players want to be. Sounds silly but were really not in that bad of shape. The state has more money than god and our economy, while not quite flourishing is not floundering like the rest of the country.

Wyoming just needs to turn it's investment resources and priority spending (especially from the state Legislature) to program personnel, meaning assistant coaches. DC needs to stop with the experimentation (onside kicks, two point conversions, fake punts) that his young assistants are throwing out there and start finding coaches who are seasoned and understand the basics of fundamental football and recruiting priorities.

I hope DC (and especially English) can fully appreciate the concept of how lineman, bigger and stronger, not smaller and quicker, are what truly makes the difference in our ability to succeed on both sides of the ball. We are getting blown off the line period. We are being manhandled, mauled and molested on both lines. It's the trenches where we are losing the games, not special teams, not the secondary, not the running backs. And really, not even the coaching. Although they really did suck last weekend.

Utah State confirmed this more than any other game we've played since being blown out by the other Utah schools and TCU, and of course Boise St. over the past decade. And while their D-line was not quite as good as their O, it was good enough to only rush three most of the time and still get pressure on the QB while stuffing our running game.

We have small weaknesses in every phase of our team but none are significant enough to severely hinder us if we had the trenches taken care of. Wyoming needs to invest in O and D lineman and make this a recruiting priority year after year. Everything else will fall in place nicely, I guarantee it. I don't buy into the idea they are any harder to recruit than the other positions, not if the Utags can get them, or Boise St. or especially teams like Weber State and the upper echelon FCS programs.

C'mon Pokes, get the biggest baddest lineman you can find, please o' please.

Not only that, but we need linemen that have the Wyoming toughness - which is, they aren't afraid to hit the other team HARD and knock them on their a$$es. No pussies needed.

Joe Glenn was somehow able to get Fletcher, Unrein, and Givens for his 3-4 defense. So, why can't this staff get guys like that?

Knapton and Biezuns are good DEs for a 4-3 defense, but NOT a 3-4 defense unless we play against o-linemen like what Air Force has.
