MWC Tourney, no upsets.

Funny, everyone thought there would be some upsets in the Tourney. We are 6 games in, out of 8. And not one upset.
Literally, the better seed has won every game thus far.

PIGTAIL:
8 seed beats 9 seed.

First Round:
1 beats 8
2 beats 7
3 beats 6
4 beats 5

Semis:
1 beats 4

Right now 2 vs. 3 (CSU vs UNLV) is at halftime and we might see the first "upset" if UNLV hangs on to win.

I guess it goes to show that this season, the whole "coulda shoulda woulda" thing goes out the window for EVERYONE.
None of the "if we get them again it will be different" and no "can't beat a team 3 times thing".
The MWC regular season was a buzz saw for everyone, and the teams that came out on top totally deserved it.
Wyo has a long ways to go.
Here is something most people won't expect from me...I think the Pokes are lucky to finish 5th next season. I expect like 7th or 8th though.

1. New Mexico
2-4. Boise, UNLV, SDSU
5-11. Crap shoot

I really think USU wins a MWC title within 3 years of being in here.
I think NM wins the conference tourney tomorrow and wins the regular season next season.
Obviously it is almost impossible to predict conference tourneys over a year away so I won't even go there.

I think San Jose State is gonna finish 11th. I do agree with your 1-4. So to me that leaves 5-10. AFA, CSU, USU, Wyo, Nevada, and Fresno should battle for 5th-10th

Whoa. I highly doubt that. To put things into perspective, in Nevada's last year in the WAC they went 26-6 and won the conference. Following year: dead last in the MWC. USU was 21-10 this year, 17-15 last year.....haven't won the WAC in 3 years. Once Tai Wesley graduated, they weren't the same program anymore. They'll be good, but I'm not sure they will ever crack the Top 3. Way too many good teams.

Any team that struggles to get through WAC play (especially this watered down WAC) is poised to get that ass smacked.....

True, but being from Evanston, and having Jaycee Carroll go there, and before that my step mom was going to USU, I went to a lot of USU games and followed them for years, they always have winning seasons.
In fact last year, like you mentioned, 17-15, they ended up winning the CIT. Kinda goes to show that even in one of their worst years ever, they ended up winning like 23 games and winning a post season tourney.

I think recruiting gets easier for them, and everyone knows or should know that Morril is a really good coach and can find talent.
I just feel that, if you are a stud b-ball player in that region, you are picking USU and the MWC over Utah and the Pac12 and BYU and the WCC.

Once they reload a little bit and figure out the MWC teams, they will compete.

Plus, everyone DREADS going to the Spectrum.

It will be very interesting to see how these seemingly predictable results will translate in the NCAA Tournament. For all the talk about the across-the-board parity of this conference, if it's a microcosm of the NCAA on the whole, we could see a very disappointing run for the MWC in the Tournament. In many ways, the MWC has never had so much on the line, especially if we do put five teams in the Tournament. If none of these five makes it to the Sweet Sixteen, it will negatively color national perception of the conference for years. If one makes it that far, it will be regarded as bare minimum achievement, two as minimum validation of the conference's high ranking. Anything short of that will only validate the perceptions of "Big 5" fans that the MWC just doesn't compete at the same level.

Very true. I hope CSU loses their first game. But I hope the other 4 teams win a game at least. I really want NM to make a run to the Final 4. Or National Championship.
They are GREAT!
