MWC Tourney: New Mexico vs. Wyoming

I thought this game was Thursday, but I guess it is tomorrow night!
Go Pokes! Hopefully the team didn't take too many dingers out there and everyone will be at full speed and health tomorrow night.
Hopefully the time off in the past week was enough recovery for them, and hopefully tonight was enough to get them into a groove.
HOPEFULLY, we win!

We are 1 game away from 20 wins.
I think we can take NM, Shyatt is 0-4 against them since he has come back to Wyo. Time for a win against the Lobos!

Keys to the game: Bang bodies down low with Alex Kirk. Let Leonard and Larry score down low. Don't get into foul trouble. Stop the 3!

Pokes can win. Will they? DAMN STRAIGHT! Pokes win 64-63 on an Adams buzzer beater!
 
Can't wait for the negative nancies to jump all over you for this one.

We have absolutely nothing to lose. Let loose, have fun, and pull off some upsets! If not, who cares, I'm still getting laid this weekend :thumb:
 
I think Wyoming has a chance in this game for sure. Of all the matchups we could have gotten I think this is the best one for Wyoming. New Mexico doesn't like our slow down style and we played tough at New Mexico without Washington for 3/4's of the game. This is a neutral court so I think we can hang with them.

There is going to be atleast one upset tomorrow at the MWC tourney so why can't it be us? I think UNLV will roll AFA and I think CSU will take care of Fresno St. The BSU/SDSU match up isn't really an upset if either team wins. So that leaves us to take down the Lobos.

truly hopeful and optimistic about this one after last night!!! Man for us to score 85 last night, that is really reassuring that we can score when needed, but the #1 thing is Feed Nance early and often down low, and Leonard stay away from the 3, I think we'll be just fine!!! I'm truly not afraid of the Bozos at all. Cmon Pokes let's get this done and move on, afterall it's our time to shine!!!! GO POKES

and that loss doesn't look so bad now....oh yeah and Denver Nuggets win their 10th in a row tonight too
 
If we can keep Snell from getting open looks, play good overall defense, and rebound like we did in the second half last night, we can make a game of this one.

Disagree on the slow down style. UNM has no problem playing at a slow tempo. It's one of the reasons that Shyatt hasn't been able to knock them off even a single time since his return whereas he has notched at least one against SDSU, UNLV, and CSU (the other reason is that UNM is just better, but still....).

There are no good matchups for us in the MWC beyond Nevada.

However, upsets happen, so you never know.

I should have clarified what I meant. My bad. I agree with you that New Mexico doesn't have a problem with our slow down style but I meant from a matchup stand point and being able to keep the game close I think Wyoming's slow down style will work better against New Mexico and keep us in the game because New Mexico isn't a great shooting team really. They do play great defense but I think we can stay in the game with them by slowing it down and Washington playing the whole game.

I think we would probably get blown out by CSU again and if we were playing UNLV on their home court we probably get taken to the woodshed as well. With New Mexico I think there is atleast a chance we can keep the game close with a chance at the end.
 
We just need to play like we did a the PIT.... we were without LW and Nance was less than 100%. With both of these guys play and feeling better we have a much better shot at picking off the MOBO'S.. One game at a time, we guys are starting to feel " IT"..

We are feeling "it".
If there is ever a time to start scoring 85 points in a game, the Tourney is the time to do it!

I am so stoked and nervous about the game! But Wyo can do it!

I hope Leonard is really feeling "it" and feels disrespected that he was only 3rd team.
Leonard needs to go to NBA calliber mode this game for us to get the win.

Another huge game from Larry Nance wouldn't hurt either. Both of them scoring 16 plus with 10+ rebounds and we'd be alright. I think tonight will be a great game. I am not expecting it, but would not be shocked to see our boys playing again tomorrow.
