Mountain West in the NCAA Tourney

12th seeded Wyoming plays Northern Iowa. The Panthers open as a 7-point favorite. UNI is 30-3 and was ranked somewhere between 10th-15th most of the season.

11th seeded Boise State is in a play-in game. An odd play-in game. Bad news? They must play Dayton AT Dayton. Good news? Flyers only play 7 players due to injury, and have nobody over 6'6". Broncos are still a 2.5-point underdog.

8th seeded San Diego State plays St. John's on the east coast. The Red Storm has beaten Syracuse, nearly knocked off Gonzaga and Duke, and overall figures to be a tough out. The Aztecs are a 2-point favorite.

So let's hear it, how will the conference show this year? Another disappointment?

Call me the eternal optimist, but I think Boise beats Dayton, and also beats Providence to move on to the round of 32. SDSU will beat St. John's and move on as well.

And Wyoming shocks the world (like they did when they beat Virginia) and pull the first round upset over UNI, then move on to the round of 32 to face Louisville (who is also seeded way too high). Pokes beat Louisville (just like they did when they beat UCLA after Virginia), and go to the Sweet 16.

Now, how's that for pumping sunshine.

Sounds great to me!!

I wish I were as confident. I hope to God that I'm wrong, but I think Boise loses Wednesday, having to literally and unjustly play a road game. SDSU is great at crapping the bed this time of year, and they finally meet a team that can match their athleticism AND score. I think Wyoming gives UNI a scare, but 30-3 is hard to deal with. A quick exit for the MW. Again, I hope I am completely and horribly wrong and all three teams make the elite 8 lol.

I think Dayton beats boise (and then also beats providence), and SDSU loses to St Johns, and with my brown and gold glasses I think we beat UNI

I certainly know nothing about them but looking over their record I think a lot of teams could go 30-3... I will have to watch some game film but I think it's a better matchup than some...

It is a sunny day in Wyoming.

If you want to be positive, UNI as a 5 seed could remind you of Gonzaga as a 6 seed, even though they spent a lot of that year in the top 10.

Agreed, and I think they could even bear Oklahoma to advance to the Sweet 16.

My thoughts exactly.

In terms of the rest of the MWC, SDSU should beat St. Johns and lose in the 2nd round and BSU got a really tough draw playing Dayton on the road. To me, Dayton is one of the more underseeded teams. Having said that, the good thing for BSU is that Dayton does not have a lot of size in the post to exploit Duncan and Webb on that end. Somewhat similar styles at play in that one.

Any team that only loses 3 games is, at the very least, consistent. Sounds like they won all the games they should have. We play well, we beat good teams. We play bad, we can lose to anyone.

5 Bold Predictions For No. 5 Northern Iowa vs. No. 12 Wyoming

5. Neither Team Will Reach 60 Points
4. Larry Nance Jr. Will Put Up 20 Points And 10 Rebounds
3. Northern Iowa Won’t Get An Offensive Rebound In The First Half
2. This Game Will Go Into Overtime
1. Wyoming Will Win

Aztecs a few minutes away from salvaging some respect for the MW, and setting up an interesting matchup between Fisher and Coach K.
