More Love from the Scott Van Pelt Show!

Ryan Russillo sporting the Cowboy football helmet and giving a shout out to his boy Dax Crum, haha! Unfortunately SVP chose the Idaho Vandals.

I don't get a chance to watch it much since im working but i believe they have the helmet there everyday. earlier this week they responded again they said to a number of emails asking why they have the uw and idaho helmets and they said they are up there because they want them there.
I think Ryen Rusillo is the bigger Wyoming guy and SVP is more into Idaho. But they both love Dax Crum.

I don't think either of them actually like Wyoming or even follow them. Their show is a little bit quirky, so they chose two random football helmets that aren't well known to further the persona of the show. There was a live chat with Ryen on ESPN once and there were severla questions as to why they loved Dax Crum so much when he wasn't even the starter. Ryen basically responded by saying that they thought Dax was a wizard and that he knew absolutely nothing about Wyoming football so not to go post on some message board that he supported Dax starting over ACS. For some reason, they just really latched onto Dax's name and have stuck with it. I do know via facebook that more UW merchandise was in the mail to them a few days ago as well.

I haven't seen the show ever or what SVP does on his show, but it seems like almost border-line bad publicity. I guess any publicity is good publicity, but I'd almost rather not people associate our great helmet with a quirky guy/show like that.

I guess my thinking is, is it really worth the publicity to be the lead clown at the local carnival?

Again, I haven't seen it so I can't really make a judgment on it, but I just get very hesitant when some guy from the northeast with no knowledge of our program starts throwing it around on air just because they think one of the players names is funny.

The show isn't that "quirky"! It is up there for the same reason I wear a random minor league baseball cap. It draws attention and questions. It's something unique. Neither of them have ties to either institution. I still think it is good pub and not bad pub unless they actually start ripping either school. I don't think ESPN gameday has ever been to Moscow, so I don't really see how Idaho and Wyoming are even close to the same level.

BTW, I got a "powder river let er buck" from some dude in Boston when I went there wearing a UW shirt.
