Mike Sanford Gets An Extension!

This is unbelievable to me. The coach goes 13-37 in his 4 years at UNLV and gets an extension?? The Rebels lost to SDSU!!! I am glad that we set the bar higher at Wyoming than they do at UNLV!!

We should be glad if you think he isn't a good coach!!! That means a better chance to beat them. I personally think that his team looked much better this year and if his QB doesn't get hurt they would have killed us and SDSU and gone bowling.

UNLV football has always played third fiddle in Vegas. First you have gambling, sportsbooks, and a huge influx of punks from LA (and local punks as well)...that don't support anything that doesn't provide you a complimentary cocktail, a tittie bar, or a $25.00 BJ. Second, you have UNLV hoops...when they are winning, they get the support. Lastly UNLV football. Third fiddle. And, it is much more difficult to maintain player focus there than anywhere in the country, especially when mediocre = satisifaction.

No, I dont think we should be glad. I am of the opinion that we should hope every MWC team tries to improve itself so our conference will get more credibility. A team that is willing to give a coach with such an awful record a contract extension really calls into a school's committment to winning.

I understand that a lame duck coach will kill recruiting...but I dont see anyway to justify a 3 year extension, unless for some reason UNLV was able to bargain for a lower buyout if they fire him (which i doubt).
