Shyatt officially announces that Tyrone Marshall will leave Wyoming basketball program.

Press release:

Laramie, Wyo. (March 27, 2012) ? University of Wyoming head coach Larry Shyatt announced today that freshman forward Tyrone Marshall has been given a full release and plans to transfer at the end of the spring semester.

“After discussing it with his father and our staff, Tyrone has decided it is in his best interest to transfer,” Shyatt said. “We appreciate his efforts on and off the floor last season and wish him the best in the future.”

A native of Denver, Colo., Marshall played in nine contests for the Cowboys during the 2011-12 season. He averaged 0.8 points and 0.8 rebounds in four minutes of action per game.

Shyatt said he would have no further comment on the subject.

I also saw it in the Scottsbluff paper: http://www.starherald.com/sports/regional/article_6c539090-785f-11e1-81c8-0019bb2963f4.html

I will say that I am somewhat concerned by the fact that the early departures seem to be disproportionately big men. I also know that Tyrone was supposed to be a long-term project when he signed on last year.

Also, I do not like losing one of the players that represented our re-entry into the Denver/Colorado recruiting area, although we will still have three Front Range guys in addition to a player from Wyoming.

I still will not be surprised if we see 3 JuCo players, if for no other reason than it would even out the classes and we do not have a single rising Junior in the program right now.

probably not a bad thing, but we'll never know cuz he never play nor gave us a chance??? we'll make due and probably do better anyway!!!
