I dont think he has a future in the FBS anymore. Most likely he could get on a FCS team which has been widely talked about. Les Miles said its a definite he will not be playing this year (of course), but he did not say anything about next year or upcoming years when asked, which got a lot of people thinking if he got his shit together he might be able to get back on the team next year, but that all changed and they said he will never play ball at LSU again.

His football future is not so bright anymore.

I think I heard he had gone FCS.

Citing an unnamed source close to Mathieu, the newspaper says that the 2011 Heisman Trophy finalist known as "the Honey Badger" plans to transfer to a Football Championship Subdivision (formerly known as Division I-AA) school, where he would be immediately eligible to play.

If he transfers to a Football Bowl Subdivision (Division I-A) school, Mathieu would have to sit out a year before playing football. The 20-year-old defensive back is a junior this year and will be eligible for the NFL draft in April.

According to the Times-Picayune, Mathieu had visited only McNeese State as of Monday.

Mathieu was cut from the Tigers for breaking an athletic department rule. The Times-Picayune's source said multiple failed drug tests were the reason for the dismissal. Mathieu was suspended for a game last season after testing positive for synthetic marijuana.

Les Miles, as well as LSU said he was permanently gone from the team.

He cost himself a ton of money! I just don't get it, after the first two failed tests he knew the ramifications of a third and yet still tests positive. He has a ton of talent, but he is short and now teams really have to question his intelligence and character.

At the same time this could turn into a good thing for him, I mean who actually knew about Steve McNair during his college days at Alcorn State University? No one but he made such a huge impact that even being FCS he got his shot in the NFL.

I would have thought maybe he would go to Boise St. but yeah, FCS is probably better. I don't get why they test for weed anyway.

Well he wont be playing in FCS either. Reports are that he has checked into a rehab center and will not be playing football this year.

Contrary to popular belief, you can become addicted to marijuana. It's less of a physical dependency and more of a mental dependency, but the addiction mechanism is still there.

Well, the same goes for caffeine, sugar, and countless other more or less innocent substances. I'm definitely addicted to coffee. I get headaches if I don't drink it every day... :(
