Lowbow Game

This game will be won or lost on the turnover margin.

I say we limit empty possessions and win it 75-71.

Getting forked over by the refs too. Truly

Just got home from the game.

Might be the worst officiating- ever. That’s saying a lot. Walter’s was actually tackled running down the court - no call, and it got worse from there. But, the Pokes didn’t look good in the first half. A lot to overcome.

Agreed, and our 3 point shooting percentage (6 of 26 for 23.1%) will not win many games, against anyone.

I’m no basketball genius. But I was really confused by how many times Linder screamed at the team to clear the lane for either Kot or Walters to just take it themselves. I get that there are certain situations you call for that. But it doesn’t seem to me to be an effective offensive philosophy unless you have a Kobe Bryant type.

I saw the same, maybe he was in "last resort" mode...to get them into foul trouble and get us to the line. Nothing else was working.

I am something of a conspiracy theorist when it comes to MW referees. It is in the conference's best interest if it gets as many teams playing March Madness. A NM win helps do that.

It's hard not to feel that way sometimes....by and large, I think in college sports you have enough outcomes that don't go the way that conferences want them to go that I don't think that there is a grand conspiracy run by conferences to influence outcomes via referees. That being said....with the rise in betting, referees are subject to incredible incentives to fudge things around. Basketball is incredibly sensitive to this.

I'd say the refs were worth 6-7 points to the Lobos. So not nearly enough to swing the game. But still quite the screwing

I made this same comment at the game. There were calls/no calls that really makes me say, hmmmmm…………

Does the calls/no calls account for more points, if a player has to change his play (maybe becomes less aggressive because of phantom calls) because he’s worried about getting a foul. Maybe the other team scores more because of it. 🤷‍♂️ Just a question. I certainly believe that happens.

How the referees call the game absolutely has an enormous impact. That is why you see coaches and players lobby so much for certain "interpretations". It's a part of the game.

Wish they'd stop going to the damn monitor so much, turning into quite the copout for them anymore, be accountable for your calls too
