Looking at the 2016 verbal commits thus far...

One word - impressed - thus far.

Just looking at LB's alone:

OLB David Engelhaupt, 6-4, 235
LB Jailyn Mays, 6-1, 215
LB Shiloh Windsor, 6-3, 221

Add on a solid CO steal with OG Gavin Rush, and solid QB recruit Chandler Garrett from OK - and the class is starting to shaping up to be 'ol Bohly's best.

And a couple of these have come after the early-season losses, when people here have said no way would anyone want to come to Laramie after watching those games.

With any luck these fellas will get the chance to actually redshirt instead of being tossed immediately into the fire.

Some came prior as well, but you are correct on others.

My theory - they see that there is the great chance to start & play 4 straight years. Players want that - they don't want to RS or be on the scout team. They also see some of the pieces in place are solid - some players, some facilities, and the HATC that is on the books (kind of).

They also see this awesome message board, that is brimming with positive outlooks, sunshine, unicorns 'n pots of gold, and the place that founded women that give the real meaning to reverse cowgirl.

*See previous comment to Monkeyboy.

Players want to play. And they probably see the opportunity to compete for PT right out of the gate, and potentially even starting for their 4 years in Laramie.

I think OL Jace Webb could be the best of the class. The dude is a dancing bear. Already over 300 lb and nimble as hell. His Hudl tape was left me speechless. I see no way that he won't be a star

I think pretty much most of the articles I've read that have evaluated why recruits choose a school, the #1 reason is consistently relationship with coaches. Obviously, I think #1 is stature in CFB but just goes without being said. One of the things I've been encouraged with Bohl and staff is that they do seem to build a good relationship with recruits. Hopefully that continues.

Obviously it's mostly this.

Did you move from Las Cruces? ;)

Recruits always look great, but you still have to see how close to those reported sizes and speeds they are if and when they really show up. But I do have to agree- the recruiting seems to be targeting guys at a higher level. Maybe that's just getting shown more information or maybe it really is that way. I guess I don't ever remember being able so see lists of all offered kids like now.

The strategy of recruiting Colorado is something I hope someone can fill us in on. Colorado is like a damned if you do and damned if you don't place for Wyoming to recruit. Seems like strong years in Colorado leave some really great players for the taking for Wyoming and so it has to be a huge focus all of the time. But Wyoming rarely if ever beats cu or even csu for any Colorado kid that on of those schools wants. It seems like taking the leftovers from cu and csu has worked sometimes and has backfired sometimes. Seems like there have been years/era's where the team has half the recruiting into Colorado kids that just aren't talented enough.

It's got to be really tough to judge what's better when you compare 3rd team all Colorado types to 5th team all Texas types. I think finding sweet spots in Oklahoma or Minnesota or places in between could only be temporary success areas, Colorado recruiting will always be a focus so hopefully they have a plan down there. The west coast also has to be a huge priority. There is way more talent than the amount of D1 schools. Sure Texas and the south have a lot of talent but also way more schools going after them.

The only great ratio of success in recruiting is Wyoming kids. But that ones tricky too- there isn't going to be that many of them and if you go with how a lot of the coaches at Wyoming has they think the kids not a D1 scholarship kid unless some other school offers them first. I'm not just crying and saying that no matter what they need more Wyoming kids but I am absolutely convinced that there have been a lot of kids that must have landed in that gray area of not quite a d1 offer from anyone but would have been very successful at Wyoming.

Texas is a must. Greatest percentage of underrated NFL talent than any other state.

Also, BSU is among the best in the country at finding top level NFL talent that is not blue-chip athletes. If we want to succeed, we need to do this as well.

Texas kids have traditionally not worked out for us, if DCs tenure here was any clue.

Question being, of course, is it Texas kids that don't work or DC's kids that happen to be from Texas that don't work?

Thanks for opening up Inception.

I almost started talking about recruiting last night.

It's also getting harder to find Texas players the way Herman at Coog High and Morris at Harvard Red and Yale Blue are recruiting.

You gotta have great relationships with the Texas high school coaches and then look up and down the highway from DFW to greater Houston. And never ignore east Texas.

Some of the guys on a Virginia team's board was talking how he used to live in Texas and how much quality and speed there is compared to where he lives now where he said high school looks like slow motion.
I'm used to Texas HS FB.

I'd like to see the height and speed etc. in a 4-2-5.
