LOL. At least we are better than the Sun Belt?

That might even be debatable, but ESPN has us ranked 9th out of 10--just above the Sun Belt.

 Shit, things have deteriorated all the way around. My initial take is, who cares if we drop to FCS? The MWC is pretty much FCS already, at least from a competitive standpoint. At least we are with our peers, right?

Dude shut up about FCS. You as bad AS SD Pkes. Seriously not another word on this board about FCS

I'm not advocating dropping to FCS. I'm advocating playing better than FCS teams, which we aren't.

OK, then. I guess we are on the same page

if this continues say 3-5 years from now then maybe it's truly something we should maybe consider??? I hate the idea too, but it's all about the quality of D1 players that we obivously aren't getting at Laramie anymore, time will tell

Yeah, my wording wasn't the best. Terrible year that I think will turn around. I just meant that right now, WYO and the MWC is pretty much playing like a FCS conference. This needs to change ASAP.

Seriously though, the MWC should make a 5 year commitment. If you don't step up, you step out. In the current landscape, going back to a MWC 9 or 10 with good OOC games would be better situation than the 2 divisions and a championship game.

The 2 divisions dilute out the "good" (and I use that term loosely this year) teams and weaken the upper end's chances at a NY6 bowl. Ensuring you play the best the MWC has to offer EVERY year is more advantageous than the champ game, IMO.

Nah, we are just more sensitive to it right now. Look around our league, lots of struggling programs for whatever reason.

We need more from everyone associated with UW. Bohl is a good coach but has some to learn. He'll figure out the Xs and Os. The new president at UW is crucial for the next step.

The gap between 5 and 6 is even more troubling than us being 9. By the time we get back to 6 (if ever) that gap between number 5 and us will continue to grow.

I'm also curious how far down the B1G will go down if ohio state and Mich State weren't included in these rankings....

To think we use to ride high at number 6 every year.

Yeah, but that was because the gap between 6 (which was AQ) and us (at 7) was not that great (Big East used to be AQ = 6 "P5 conferences"). I think one year, we were actually 6 (ahead of an AQ conference). That was a reason to be excited. Now, we are MUCH closer to the highest level FCS conference than we are the lowest level P5 conference.

No it's not, It's because we had BYU, TCU & Utah.

No what is not?

Even back when we had byu, TCU, and Utah, a lot of the schools were doing better OOC. Even us.

This is the worst the MWC has been and it isn't even close; with our without the defectors. What troubles me is that everyone assumes "the MWC is building"; I'm not sure it is.

I would 100% support a 5 year (or so) commitment of step up or step out. If after 5 years (or whatever timeline), you rank consistently below 90 (or some metric), you are out. Obviously, you could put criteria in for football and bball.

MWC is not building we are WAC 3.0

It was because the teams in the conference were constantly ranked and now we have one team that ranks. TCU, Utah and BYU were constantly ranked teams and now we have Boise and sometimes Fresno/CSU makes an appearance.

Gotcha. I don't disagree, but the supporting cast at the time was much better as well which helped the upper end teams get better rankings. All in all, just a way better conference top to bottom. In the MWC's best years, I'd bet our 4th-6th teams would run rough shod over our current clown car (sans a few teams like BSU).

I think we are worse than WAC 3.0.

From a conference stand point we could only be worst than WAC 3.0 if we had all those defector WAC teams that is the only saving grace and it's not very saving right now.

You are welcome. Your thoughts have been noted as well.

P.S. hopefully (due to my poor wording) you did not think this was another post advocating dropping down. If so, please read subsequent posts for clarification.
