You guys might not know the reason Lekan transferred. I did, but I don't spill negative crap all over the board to create MORE drama: there was absolutely nothing positive that had could have come from sharing that information on the message boards.
In retrospect, Lekan had every reason to be upset, although he shouldn't have transferred. He thought someone was stealing from him in the locker room. Come to find out, Shakir Smith got kicked off the team for stealing. It's not 100 proof that he did it, but it's a pretty good indication. I don't know what Lekan expected Shyatt and staff to do with his allegations of stealing. It's almost impossible to catch someone after the fact. Shy and staff did the right thing, the team did the right thing by telling him it wasn't any of them. Shakir was likely to blame, and ended up getting booted out of school.
Since then, Lekan's basketball game his fizzled. He's transferred at least three times. Nance became a great basketball player and better human being, and who knows what happened to Shakir. Shy is still a great coach and Isiah is still a great point guard.
It's funny how things work out. Lekan was the Nigerian pipeline reborn and created a lot of buzz when he signed. Larry Nance was the after-thought that succeeded through work ethic, OVERCOMING adversity, and persistence. I would imagine that those same traits will shine later in life. Larry Nance Jr. will be successful no matter what he does. Lekan will quit over and over again unless he changes. Lekan had the same chance of being "ADU" as I have of becoming "America's Next Top Model".
If this whole episode proves anything, it's that we have the right coach. Shyatt molds and develops the traits that will help you the rest of your life.
So thank you Larry for NOT quitting and thank the other Larry for helping develop the traits the helped our team cut down the nets.
