Larry Shyatt announced as Dallas assistant

Weren't the Mavs the same team he almost went to last year (during his contract signing fiasco) as well? I remember everyone assumed it would be OKC to reunite with Donovan, but I heard it was Dallas who offered him last offseason.

Anyways, here's to hoping Dallas signs Josh to a longer-term deal after summer league, and trades for Nance as well!

guess that's really all that was missing from his resume was coaching in the NBA, happy for him, but still wishing he woulda stuck with us, oh well. Good luck Papa Shy, I don't care for the Mavs but we'll be watching for you when you come to Denver, remember once a Cowboy always a Cowboy!!!

I think both parties ended up getting what they wanted. Shyatt left here on a good note and Wyoming was able to promote from within.

It's too bad the Shyatt era ended on such a sour note with a down year coupled with the suspensions, but it seems like he brought Pokes basketball back to respectability on the court overall in his five years.

My hope is that this was a long-term career goal and nothing on earth would have kept him in the college game.

My worry is that WYO wore Shy down. A symptom, if you will, of how difficult things have become. Apathy in fanbase. Lack of leadership or vision throughout upper levels. An acceptance of mediocrity. etc.

I'm not saying that is the case, but is something that concerns me, unwarranted or not. I'd love to know his true feelings and motivations for moving on.
