If Larry's knee stays healthy, I will predict he gets drafted into the NBA, making him one of the 60 best players in the country.... I also think he's got a great chance of going in the first round, meaning he's one of the 30 best players in the country. It will be interesting to look back and see.

I would add that it isn't "country", but "world" when you talk about the NBA draft. To be drafted in the first round, you have to realistically be in the Top 20 among U.S. college prospects (Top 40 for 2nd round) due to all the international picks.

I have no idea where Larry will end up as a draft prospect, but I predict he ends up making a roster and having an NBA career.

I have no idea on which criteria ESPN rates players, but in the MWC perhaps the 4th best conference he's #1 preseason.
Doubt that 66th means anything to us in Wyoming. I seriously believe in terms of intelligence, quality kid, team player, and contributor he's a top 10 player in the nation. If Nance plays to his capability my prediction is hes a top 25 draft pick.

Another factor I think might help Larry's draft stock is that he is considered to be somewhat of a late bloomer who is still early on his development curve. He's vastly improved every season in college and there's no reason to believe he won't continue that trend for a while. He's a little undersized for a PF but I think that is mattering less and less the way the NBA game is trending - more teams are going small. He's also got good wingspan and is obviously explosively athletic. He is getting great coaching, especially on the defensive end, and I would have to think he will be close to NBA-ready at that end of the floor. He's a high IQ player with NBA pedigree. I just hope he gets drafted into a good situation. I think for a lot of guys like him it's a matter of whether the team is the right fit and the coaching staff knows how to use a player.

Here is what I think of this crap.

Sure there are some big men that are going to Kentucky that are sure 1 and done's. They may be drafted higher than Larry.
BUT...

Let's say Wyoming and Kentucky play in a 3 vs 14 matchup in the Big Dance.
John Calipari is going to fucking afraid of what Larry Nance is going to do to his freshmen.

Sure everyone else will say how great and NBA ready those bigs are, but let's be real here. Is there any freshman in the country that can handle Larry Nance as a senior?

Absolutely not.
In 5 years? Maybe those kids will be super stars in the NBA but for now?

My point is, Larry Nance might not be the best in the eyes of the talking heads, but every single coach of the opposing team that has to figure out how to deal with him on offense and defense is going to shit himself trying to figure out what to do.

Larry Nance is the most underrated player in college basketball this season.
He will propel Wyoming to several wins.

Oh, and don't for one minute think those 1 and done guards can school Josh Adams who is going to be the most exciting player in the country. But that is a whole different subject.

Sidenote: I kind of want Wyo to play a school with a lot of 1 and done's in the NCAA Tourney so everyone sees how Shyatt develops talent and how Josh and Larry are men among boys.

You'll see it at least twice this year - UNLV @ Wyoming & Wyoming @ UNLV.

There was a time where I thought Larry would need some time in the D-league or Europe to develop physically. He has grown outward and at 6'8" 235, he'll have an opportunity to make an NBA roster due to his athleticism, defense, and shooting ability. I think his size will hold him back from being a first round pick, but I think he goes early second and becomes one of those guys that everyone regrets passing on.

Yeah I want it in the tourney so when we beat that big time team the whole country gives us respect instead of talking shit. Ph I know! Ohio state for their "we didn't want you" cheer they taunted larry with last season. Fuck them.

I'll be completely honest, I had no idea how complete a basketball Nance is until I started watching him. Yeah, he's athletic and can dunk, but there's so much more to his game. His passing ability is high end. And the timing on defense with blocking shots is impeccable.

It seems crazy, but the guy I keep coming back to for finding an NBA comparison is Blake Griffin. I'm not sure he'll ever get to that level, but that's who I keep seeing when I watch him play.

BTW before the season, DraftExpress ranked Nance as the 25th-best senior in the country. That will be fun to track as the season moves along. (they also did a preseason scouting report on him)
