Know Your Foe: WYOMING-Eastern Michigan

There are many in the state of Wyoming who see good things in the future for Wyoming Cowboys football. Success is often experienced by teams that win the games that they are supposed to win. As we look ahead to this coming season's Cowboys schedule, Eastern Michigan University can certainly be counted in the category of underdog when they visit War Memorial Stadium.

Anything short of a 4 TD victory is not good.
Agreed. Eastern Michigan is quite possibly the worst team in FBS. If we don't curb stomp them we're in for a very long season.

Didn't realize how bad EMU is: 2-10 each of last three years. There have been on-campus discussions about the future of the program.

Yep, it's not good. Normally I'd give the team more leeway, but if we can't beat EMU by 28+, it's time to brace for impact. I expect a 45-7ish type win.

I have to disagree. With a ground-attack Poke offense, I expect a maximum of 35 points. And with the weak secondary and LB positions I expect the Pokes to yield 21.

To EMU? If this defense coughs up 21 to them, they'll be coughing up 35+ to everyone else.

One of these days, Wyoming must start playing these tune up games like....they're..you know, tune up games. Games that should end 49-7, watching the 3rd stringers play in the 4th quarter. Not struggling to beat FAU.

IMO, both North Dakota and Eastern Michigan are the next steps for Bohl. Baby steps, but steps nonetheless. The goal? End struggles in tune up games. Win big like we're supposed to. 38-7, 52-10 type games. Not 24-21, barely scraping by. Bothers me that its almost become tradition. We expect these games to be competitive, and they shouldn't be.

This. Plus 100.

Appy State should not be a potential loss. Maybe a rough game, but Wyo football NEEDS to be to the point where any games against EMU, Appy State, North Dakota, New Mexico, UNLV, etc. should be auto-wins 9/10.

as I watch us eek by teams like Montana and lose to Cal Poly over the years, I say anything in the W column is better than what we have had.

For once, I wish we would just win by as much as we are supposed to.

Technically, a team can dominate but still have a relatively close score due to a few errors or missed opportunities.

I'd take that and a W. I'm with everyone else on "getting by on the skin of our teeth" against bad teams. Of course, we've been a pretty bad team ourselves. I'm hoping that has finally changed.

And I get that...if Wyoming goes out there, leads 28-7 at half, parks the bus and wins 38-21, I'm okay with that. The margin of victory doesn't always illustrate the lopsidedness of a game.

I just want no more Montana/FAU type games. Those teams very nearly beat Wyoming, and if it weren't for a massive fluke FAU would have.
