Kenny Sailors

A gargantuan ambassador for Wyoming basketball over multiple generations...my heart dropped when I saw this.

A gentleman in every sense of the word.

Had the privilege of meeting Mr. Sailors on a few occasions, always had time for anyone who wanted to stop, talk, shake his hand.

I have a picture of him with my son that we took at a game 3 years ago.

Sad news.

I had the pleasure of introducing my boys to him on the day they honored Kenny several years back. My son has the ticket stub he autographed on his dresser. We have lost a great man, UW fan and ambassador...I guess St. Peter thought it was finally time to work on his jump shot.

Rest in peace , Kenny. The AA won't be the same without you.

Kenny Sailors deserves an obituary in "The Economist", a British weekly publication that has full page obits of people like Sailors. If you have a subscription (and thus a log in) please inform them.

Just had a shot in his honor what a terrible loss. His name needs to be somewhere at the university.

Would be great to have the AA named after him, but I doubt it'll happen. Not in the near future anyways

Our article with some player tweets and a quick video on him:

Sad day . Will miss seeing Kenny's big smile at the Cowboy and Cowgirl games and on TV. Was a great man with a great heart. RIP Kenny you had a hell of a ride Cowboy! Now you're in Cowboy heaven.

Be great to see the Cowboys win one today for him.

Also great suggestion on the naming of the Arena after him.

I always enjoyed running into him. I tried to buy his dinner at the Chuckwagon (after I saw him head up the register) several years ago. He managed to pay for it himself! We always had a cordial relationship - I'd run into him at games, albertsons, where-ever. He always had something intelligent to say. He was a fine man, a great ambassador to Wyoming and Alaska. He will be missed - but never forgotten. I look forward to seeing #4 in the rafters of the AA everytime I watch a game in person.

I've often wondered why we don't have more numbers retired. When you look at Kenny's record in Wyoming History, he set the bar pretty damn high. I guess that explains that!
