Sounds like he already has his new team picked based on his ‘do not contact’ selection. He was one of the players I was high on for what was left of the returning defense. Complete defense rebuild now.
7220 Sports is reporting he already chose Houston before entering the portal. Can you say tampering?
The greed will destroy college athletics for everyone. Outside of mainly schools in the Big 10 and SEC, fans will be losing interest and leaving in droves. The increased costs of sports programs associated with paying players in order to be competitive along with decreased fan interest will cause schools to begin dropping sports programs left and right (or moving to D3/intramural models). This shit is SO MUCH FUN. I love college sports.![]()
Colleges are largely taxpayer supported institutions. They’ve never been part of a true ‘free market.’ We’ve now (through Sherman Act interpretation) created a model where publicly funded schools with historic sports programs are subject to a system where players are not obligated to honor contractual type commitments nor subject to reasonable restriction when the universities themselves are subject to all kinds of restrictions based on the very nature of being public and taxpayer funded.Everybody is a fan of the free market, until the free market starts to operate.
He was recruited as a RB and turned into one of our best players in the secondary. But you’re right - there can be little fan engagement when the names change every year.Another reason I hate the portal and NIL is you do not even get to know the names of the players before they are leaving. I have no idea who this guy was or what position he played.
Spot on. Unless there are major changes (and I don't see how) - college sports may completely die from this shit. The greed will destroy college athletics for everyone. Personally - I watch WAY less college sports than I did just a few years ago. And only watched a couple NCAAT games when I used to watch damn near every one.
And with the loss of sports programs associated- American dominance in the Olympics in sports like swimming and track and field will soon be lost too.
I guess 'ol Bohly was onto something, leaving the names off the backs of jerseys. Who would have known! He was recruited as a RB and turned into one of our best players in the secondary. But you’re right - there can be little fan engagement when the names change every year.
I've been on this wagon for a while.. there's no point in getting attached to players, or even having a "favorite" player anymore. Those days are long gone. Disservice to college athletics.I guess 'ol Bohly was onto something, leaving the names off the backs of jerseys. Who would have known!

Agree 100%. Sad state of affairs man.I've been on this wagon for a while.. there's no point in getting attached to players, or even having a "favorite" player anymore. Those days are long gone. Disservice to college athletics.
On the flip side, I'm starting to wonder if the new generation of sports fan even cares? Maybe only the old guard is getting pissed? I hope not. I hope fans and money leave; maybe then it'll get fixed.Spot on. Unless there are major changes (and I don't see how) - college sports may completely die from this shit.
7220 Sports isn't reporting its sources or reasons on why the departure to Houston. Giles was the 'freshman coach' in 2023 when Parks was a freshman so that would make sense as to the connection.Oscar?

Not sure, with attendance numbers last year, seems UW Football has turned into a pretty popular party - and not just for "fans".On the flip side, I'm starting to wonder if the new generation of sports fan even cares?
