I must say the basketball team is pretty impressive for a team with so much youth. They make good decisions, could care less who gets to score, and are willing to do the dirty work necessary to grind out a win.

It's nice to see we have the depth to rest Grabau. Sobey and Adams both look capable of playing the two against quality competition.

I love the athleticism we have in the post. We won't be over-matched athletically by anyone in the post this year. Cooke, Nance, and Washington is one hell of a difficult task for any team. Defensively, they will make it very difficult on opposing bigs. Coaches we play have to chose how to defend Washington. He's going to get his against any single defender in the league. If you chose to double him, you better not drop off of Nance because he will chew your ass up if you leave him open. If you drop a guard/wing to double him you leave a good shooter open outside.

Speaking of good shooters outside, it finally looks like we're recruiting ourselves out of the 3 point hell that we've been in since McClain was here. It's been years since we've had a team that you couldn't leave open from the outside. We're starting to get there. Gilmore, Grabau, Martinez, Nance, and Washington will all knock down the three if you leave them open. Adams and Sobey will take you off the dribble and make you pay.

Hopefully this weekend was a turning point for attendance. Those of us that have been attending since Shyatt returned are puzzled by the seeming lack of interest shown by a portion of the Wyoming fan base. McClain followed by Heath left a pretty strong taste of unattractive basketball in everyone's mouth. I know it will take some time. This team makes it easy to cheer for them. They don't take trips off defensively. They don't care who scores. They take care of the ball. They would almost rather pass then score. They certainly are aggressive, disciplined, and unselfish.

I love old school coaches. Normally I would worry about a Schroyer or McClain team looking ahead or taking a team for granted. I'm not as concerned with Shy at the helm. He's one hell of a teacher and it seems like he's got the team believing. We're competitive in every game we play.

Wyoming basketball is back. Let's pack the AA and give this team the support they deserve.

let's get another big crowd against the Panhandle State this weekend!!! let's not wait for a bigger name school to show our guys how much we love what they're doing for us
