Juco offer

Wyoming offered a wing player who went to the same JUCO as Luke Martinez. The kid sounds like he is very similar to Luke Martinez as a basketball player but a little bit better. He broke the schools scoring record as a freshman, and is averaging over 20 points a game with 5.6 boards and 3 dimes a game.

I hope that we can land him. He is getting interest from a LOT of schools.

He would be able to come in right away and him with and Hankerson, that would sure create on hell of a log jam of players like Adams, Grabau, and Sobey for playing time.
But it could also mean we go from having no depth in the guard postion this year to having one of the best benches for the guards in the MWC next season.

My issue is...do we just bank on Nance stepping up to putting Leonard type numbers next year and Vernon being able to play significantly as a freshman? And Sellers to step up?
We could have tons of guards but only a couple big guys...

Nance, Cooke, and Sellers for bigs. A 3 man rotation which is what we started out with anyways. 2 starting bigs and 3 guards/shooters.

Somehow I feel that Nance is as good as he is going to get, while Sellers will make some strides and Cooke a lot. Just my observation.

I would switch Nance and Sellers. Sellers has limitations you just can't fix (slow and can't jump), while Nance can continue to improve his skill set (he could learn a few things from Sellers, come to think of it).

Cooke obviously has a lot of upside.

Fuck. No.
You guys forget that he is only a sophomore right?
The kid is going to get a lot better next season. He needs to have more confidence in himself, and will be able to put up 15+ a game next season, while grabbing 10 boards.
And on top of that he can make free throws.
Nance of all people has not peaked. Sellers might make some strides, but there is no way that he will ever be starting.
Cooke and Nance will be starting for the next two years and by his senior year Nance will probably be a MWC POY canidate. Maybe him and Hankerson will both be POY Canidates.

What the?! Why has everyone forgotten Haldorson? The kid has been coming in and doing good these last few games.

Yes he did. Honestly, I could see another Bailey and Davis scenario on our team. Adams (Bailey)type, and Haldorson (Davis) type. I think they can be that good.

Speaking of top JUCO players. Fresno has picked up a legit threat for next year. Alex Davis (I think is his name) from Hutch College 31-3 so far this year. He is a good post player and is similar to Washington in Rebounding and Blocked shots. Plus they have pretty much everyone back. I think they will be pretty darn good next year.
