Josh Adams

Loved what I saw from Josh Adams tonight. I already thought he was a great defender... He hit some threes and made some plays at the rim too. I think he's going to be a big contributer in the coming years.

The biggest thing for Adams would be to develop a decent jumper. He's got the rest of the tools.

I would put up money on that prediction. He will become a great player at UW.

IF he can develop a consistent jump shot to mix in with his explosive hops and ability to cut to the rim and he should be a dangerous player in his remaining 3 years. Should be an exciting player to watch.

I am so sick of Gilmore not passing the ball to an open Grabau. I can not wait for Grabau and Adams to be the 1-2.
No one will be more stoked to see Gilmore out of the Wyo jersey than me. Ball hog, thinks he is Kobe Bryant. He jacks up HORRIBLE shots. Yes he is the only reason we were in some games, but we lose everytime he leads our team in scoring.
Adams and Grabau are gonna flourish without Gilmore. They will get their chances. When Gilmore runs the point, Adams and Grabau run through the offense.
When Adams or Grabau run the point Gilmore sits there and screams for the ball.

Did anyone notice Larry Nance refused to inbound the ball to Gilmore at 1 point in the 2nd half after Gilmore jacked up that 50 footer? He waited for Grabau to come get the ball. Then Gilmore sat there screaming for the ball then when he FINALLY ran the offense, he ended up just running into Nance.

Anyways rant done, when Gilmore is gone, Adams and Grabau are gonna improve SO much. I am stoked.

Been saying this all conference. We are a much better team when he is a point guard and not a point scorer. Will not miss him. Buh Bye!!! I think Adams can lead this team way better than Derrious. I am also intrigued by Trey Washington.

Agreed. Love his effort on D this year as a true frosh as well. Obviously needs to get a lot of shots up in the offseason, but I think he can improve there. While they are different players, the comparison would be Brad Jones. Jones was a tough defender and athlete that slowly developed a jumper and found his spots on the court where he could hit the jumper at a decent percentage by his Sr. Year.

Words can't describe how much I am happy about the fact Gilmore is gone.

Watching himi playing..... and it suddenly makes me miss JayDee Luster.

Senioritis gets to him at times, and he feels he has to get it done himself, I am kinda glad he's done too. it's been bittersweet watching this team all season, hopefully next year Larry steps it up big time and we can hit a damn shot with better consistency at a big time!!!! it's time for us to matter for a change and win the big one, conference or tourney

Pretty much agree with everything said here. As for Josh, if he can develope a very consistent 10-12 ft pull up jumper, he will be nearly unstoppable.

Adams has got great handles and runs the point well. Luster ran the point very well last season, but he couldn't score when he needed to. I feel like Adams will bring that to the table along with great court awareness and ball handling. I'm very happy we have him to run the show for the next three years!

I actually think his ball handling is the thing he needs to improve the most. When New Mexico turned on their press he didn't seem very poised dealing with it. I think he needs to work on his left hand as well, seems he can only drive with confidence going right. His shot should improve and he has the athleticism to play, just needs to better improve his ball handling in order to become a full time PG.

I was thinking the same thing. He actually played off the ball in high school most of the time as well (Calvert really ran the point more often than not for Chapparal last year), so his comfort level with his handle in traffic and under pressure isn't quite where it needs to be.

However, he is a true freshman and those are all skills that he can improve on. He has the quickness and athleticism to compete at this level (even with his small stature) and the effort and confidence seem to be there as well. I believe he will be very good by his junior year.

Even with those weaknesses, I would turn him loose at the point next year and pair him in the backcourt with a JC signee combo guard that can help with the ball handling and perimeter shooting.
