Josh Adams

So I'm sitting around watching Wyo's game vs UNLV in the past MWC tourney. A couple thoughts, Adams game was unbelievable, if we had some support offensively that game was more than winnable. The double clutch on Birch, and streaky shooting nearly allowed Wyoming a real upset. IF these two frosh bigs, and IF Cooke can become more competent with his footwork and ball control in the paint Wyoming's chances vastly improve towards a top 3 finish this year in league competition. From what I'm hearing Nance is rehabbing strong. The senior leadership of Grabau, Nance, Bentz, and Hankerson should really help gel these younger players. Adams needs to continue his meteoric rise to the best guard in the conference, this injury to Larry jr could be the catalyst for Josh to become 1st team and the backcourt leader for the up and coming Cowboys. Dream big guys and girls, this could be a great year on the hardwood.

Adams, before Nance went down, was a good defender, but lacked consistency on offense. After Nance went down, his only real problem was that he was out of energy by the second half. Otherwise, Adams has become one of THE biggest threats in the conference. He can defend, he can shoot outside the circle, he can shoot inside, he can even take it to the rim (better than many bigs too)! If he can pick up from that, and Nance is back 100% (also back to where he was before going down), combined with good support form everyone else, this year's team will be a MAJOR contender for the conference title.

This is where I believe the much improved quality depth on the team is going to help the tired legs in the second half of games and the season itself. I'm aware much of this depth is inexperienced at this level and I expect Coach Shyatt will try to get our new players as much PT as possible in the early part of the season. If it works, we will be wearing the opposing teams down in the second half.
