Interview with new UW president Robert Sternberg

So as I read this thread..

Sunshine pumpers argument for keeping Burman
a) The record of UW athletics under his leadership is not his fault
b) As bad as the record has been, it could have been worse-like Moon
c) The record isnt bad-just mediocre -and no one can do better-we are who we are
d)We might get someone worse
e) Its just not a good time right now

The arguments for change
a) He influences our success-or at least he is paid to..so the record is his
b) As bad as the record is-it might have been better under someone else (like Roach)
c) Mediocrity is not acceptable-we need vision and a drive for excellence that starts at the top
d) We might get someone worse-or just as bad- or better... but doing the same thing over and over again is establishing a culture of low expectations and apathy-and when the AD lies to us and we just shrug it off-he is taking us for granted-and WE are the problem
e) Time to cowboy up

Burman needs to go

You left out Argument #1 for Change. A limited number of families were able to get season tickets, that were less expensive than those bought by wyofishing, at a special promotion (albeit in what many would consider a crappy section of the War).

Seriously....?

Thats the best you can do? (and by the way Sherlock, I'm not Wyoming Fishing)

Instead of addressing the logic of the arguments in this post, you throw out some sort of veiled backhanded insult? Graned, I used the label "sunshine pumpers"-but merely to characterize my sense that this set of arguments is overly generous in overlooking current and past deficiencies, and overly optimistic in the face of current reality.

C'mon man, thats not the best you can do.
You've got to do better.

If you think Burman is taking UW to a higher plateau of excellence and I am full of it..then provide your arguments. Because this IS an important discussion for UW's near term and long term future.

If you cant do that, then dont squat to pee or call be a booger face and think you've cowboyed up -cause you haven't.

Just for the record, I dont like to bitch, and I take no pleasure in pointing out another man should lose his job..I like to be a fan (and am a fan) of the Pokes through thick or thin.

Burman has done a great job in recruiting a Wrestling coach :thumb: and supporting Alpine skiing-both of these programs are national dynasties. Unfortunately, we can't seem to build a statewide sense of pride in that.

In my opinion, the current athletics situation is damaging the long term future of fan support of UW, and I care a lot about that-so I'm speaking out.

If I'm wrong and if you can refute my arguments, then do so. But if I'm not then we need a new and better direction with someone else at the helm.
