Incoming Freshman

Yep...not every true freshman QB will be as special as Brett Smith was. Majority of the time it turns out to be a complete disaster. Cal played their 5-Star true freshman QB right away last season and almost went 0-12. Cal sucks....but still, it's not an ideal situation.

Cal also played in the Pac12. With real defenses. And the Pac12 was loaded with QBs last season, meaning he had to win shootouts to beat them, not to mention they also played Ohio State and Northwestern (who was ranked 22nd at the time)

And Cal was still 10th in the country in pass yards.

Cal had to face Braxton Miller, Sean Mannion, Marcus Mariota, Keith Price, Connor Halliday, Brett Hundley, and Kevin Hogan.

That's a tough schedule for a true freshman.

Not sure where I am really going with this, but their defense also sucked, it wasn't really because of their true freshman QB. Cals best games defensively were giving up 30 to Portland State, 33 to Arizona, and 37 to UCLA. The rest were in the 40s (5 times), 50s (2 times), 60s (2 times).

Seems to me if they signed 4 TE's and brought in a new guy to coach 'em, that would be an area of strong interest.

Fort was on the field today throwing the pigskin. we went from having no Qbs to like 6 or 7 of them on the roster!

I made an ignorant comment about the Nebraska walk-on program and was very wrong (in another thread). After I read more on it, there are quite a few kids that never get rated or aren't rated high enough. A little time in their program, and those kids see the field. I suspect we have similar situations in the current WYO class. What I'm getting at is that I'm much too ignorant to make any predictions about Freshman. I'm excited to see them all play--including walk-ons. :lol:

Lol Carbon Poke I like how you say "even ACS to an extent" when talking about our good freshman.
What do you mean to an extent? Did you forget he lead us to our only bowl win since 2004, and multiple come backs, and MWC freshman of the year that season???

I know your intent wasn't to slam ACS but I think the little jabs at ACS all these years later is funny.
