Immediate success WILL happen

I believe that by the lone fact that we will play disciplined football next season will give us more success than what we have had. Cowboy fans I urge you to think back at the product that was put on the field this past season. (Don't think too long. I don't want to ruin your day). But just think about what we saw from our team. Blown coverages, awful tackling etc. but worse than those things I saw a MAJOR lack of preparation from our staff.

I am very confident that we will be much better than what all of you are probably expecting. The biggest question mark will be the O and D lines, but I believe even the current linemen that we have will be dramatically improved just by the coaching they recieve. And our skilled positions are very very good. I truly believe that we will be much much better from the get go.

Ugh. I'm drinking the kool aid already!!! Screw it! I'm pumped for cowboy tough football!! Go Pokes!!!

The other thing is that as a whole, the MWC is pretty bad. Essentially any team can have relatively quick turnarounds.

Yeah I agree ragtime. This isn't the MWC with TCU, Utah, and BYU.
This is th MWC that San Diego State won last season and WAC teams played in the championship game this season.
Wyo went 5-7 this year with a bad coach. Next year should be much better

Fresno loses Carr and a huge chunk of their offense. Their defense is still suspect (which is weird since Deruyter is supposed to be a defensive genius.) CSU loses their entire offensive line. Boise has a new HC and probably a new offense again. USU may be the only team that stays true to form next year. This conference sucks....

Their new HC was the OC there three years ago I think they will run the same O
They ran a read option this year which was different than what they had run under Harsin. So they will be transitioning back to their old pro-set. Prince the last OC under Petersen was the one who switched them to the read option.

USU lost the most out of anyone in the conference, they lost 22 seniors on that team, and nearly the whole defense. I think that USU will be on par with us from this past year, they will rely solely on Keeton to win them games like we do with Brett. Fresno will have a down year, and CSU will be slightly better than this last year. Boise has the potential to be very good since they were a very young team, but you never know with a new head coach. Wyoming will be a little better than last year due to better coaching, and the style of play that we will employ along with bringing almost all starters back. I think Wyoming can range from 5-8 wins depending on how the switch goes.

Unless CSU has some good lineman redshirted or warming the bench I don't think they will be as good.

Is it just me or is it that most of these threads have to discuss how bad everyone of our opponents will be to state how good we will be?
Does everyone else have to suck in order for us to win?
Such it is almost every year. If WYO wins the conference, it has generally been considered a "down" year for the conference.

Does anyone else notice this?

It won't take much for Wyoming to improve. We know we have the ability...now it is up to the coaching. And, we get a majority of our starters back....the most in the MWC.

BTW, the conference has only been down two years....and Wyoming hasn't won the title in those two years. It is a down year when a team like SDSU can win the title.

Tough schedule, big change in scheme.....DC's 1st season proved anything can happen, but I wouldn't hold Bohl to a high standard in year #1. 7-5 would be a crazy-good achievement in his first year with that schedule. If he goes 5-7, I'd consider that an improvement too.....2013 schedule is much weaker than the 2014 schedule. 5-7 this year does not equal 5-7 next year.

Predictions for next season are fruitless this time of year of course, but while anything can happen....I will steer on the side of caution. I've seen quite a few threads like this in recent years (most leading to disappointing seasons)

One step at a time.....

Since we have never won the MWC in football, no, I have not noticed this :D .

Kidding aside, I get your point. For me, though, I have very reserved expectations for next year. New coach and coming off another bad year makes me think we will need a little of both to have a good year. We need to have improvement and it does not hurt that the MWC is terrible.

It is going to take time; hopefully both WYO and the MWC start to improve drastically.

I'll be more impressed when I hear people talk about Spring Practice actually showing that players are learning instead of the same old crap.

Huh? Seems like every year people on WN are stating things are "different" in spring ball.

I heard a lot during spring camp this year last year that the defense was slow to the ball and did not stay in their lanes. That was pretty much spot on, The conflicting part I heard was that our secondary was strong when it was beyond awful.

Granted if no one on the line or backers can make a tackle the secondary gets all the work but we got burned on a lot of big pass plays.

For sure.....we seem to always get a lot of conflicting info from spring practices. I hope to see something very different this spring....not so much scheme stuff. Hell, nothing Bohl does at NDSU is complicated scheme-wise. I would be thrilled if all Bohl does this spring is make his team tougher physically and mentally. Go all Remember the Titans on their asses.

I think the strength and conditioning would be a huge plus and maybe we won't have an injury per game until we're on 3rd string players.
