If you were head man, do you take chances on guys like...

Jonathon Taylor? Released from GA for domestic violence and also released from Bama for the same. Accuser at Bama recanted so he will not be charged there.

Would you take a chance on someone like that (assuming they could start right away)?

Risk of causing dissension within the team is pretty high, and it won't do the fan base any good.

Not on this one...however I do believe getting borderline guys would be needed...just have them on a tight leash, etc.

Most teams are not made up of saints.....but hitting women...no no.

I also agree with this. I am all about second chances. Guy has a run in with alcohol (not DUI...hate guys who drink and drive), minor drugs, solicited a man or woman of the night in vegas, etc. I think deserve second chance. When it comes to hitting women and abuse and such...nada.

I believe that people that are in the community that promotes that type of action create it easier for that action to take place. I'm not saying that it's 100% but I've lived all over the US and it's pretty damn true when it comes to you act how those around you act.

Someone like that could be a completely different person in a town like Laramie where college isn't just a big party waiting to happen.

But I'm also the type of person who gives second chances.

I wouldn't touch a guy like that. I do believe in forgiveness and second chances, but this guy still believes he did nothing wrong. Just because the second girl recanted her statement, doesn't mean he didn't hit her. Hell, his other case is still in court and he says he didn't hit that girl either. Now if he admitted his past transgressions and asked for help with dealing with his violence towards women, I might consider him. But a guy in complete denial is a ticking time bomb. Kick rocks buddy.

Depends on what kind of program you have.

SEC schools have no issue with it.

Some other schools throughout the country don't either.

We are not in a position to be taking on thugs.

Well Bohl seems like a person with high moral values and character. I dont believe he would even entertain the idea of offering a guy like this. Saban gave the guy a chance, so I guess he overlooked his issues. Although when you're given a zero tolerance policy it really means zero tolerance, Saban stuck to his guns.

Well, he was released from both Georgia AND Alabama. So, that would be three chances, if he were to end up here.

And a "no" for me too. The guy has shown violent off the field tendencies at two different schools. Enough to be "released" from both of them. I don't mind giving guys a second chance. But when they show consistently that they are not good for the team dynamic, it's best to move along.

Some good points on both sides. I'm kind of in agreement that if he sought help and admitted mistakes, then that might change my mind.

I really wouldn't be opposed to some situations where a guy ran into trouble, but this one doesn't seem like one of those.

Gotta give Saban some credit on this one--gave the kid a chance and stuck to a 0 tolerance policy. IMO, the best thing that could happen to this kid is relegated to the JUCO ranks under another 0 tolerance policy and mandatory domestic violence classes or something. Make him earn his way back.
