If the MWC would have remained...

So the MWC was becoming a very strong football conference when Utah, BYU, and TCU were in it.
At the top, the MWC was just as good as any other conference, the bottom teams were just as crappy as the others, the problem becoming a BCS conference was the middle of the pack teams, they were much lower quality than most if not all BCS conferences.

So, had Utah, BYU, and TCU stayed in the MWC, and we didn't have to go fishing for WAC teams, the MWC could be looking like this:

East: TCU, NM, AFA, CSU, Wyo, UNLV
West: Utah, BYU, Boise St., SDSU, Fresno St., Nevada

Obviously, I don't know if the divisions would look like that, but I am assuming SJSU and Hawaii wouldn't be in the MWC.

Let's say that the MWC would have been awarded BCS status and the winner of the MWC Championship game is going to the Fiesta Bowl to play the Big12 winner.

What would be the rank of the MWC teams?
I think Wyo would not be even close to getting to the top.

But my ranking would be:
1. TCU
2. Boise St.
3. Utah
4. Fresno St.
5. BYU
6. SDSU
7. AFA
8. Nevada
9. Wyo
10. New Mexico
11. CSU
12. UNLV

As you can see I left Hawaii, SJSU, and USU off the list because I am assuming they would have never been invited.

Our division would be easier to get out of because TCU is the only real powerhouse and getting to the championship game would just be beating the "bad teams" (us included) with an upset of TCU, and the west division with Boise St., Utah, Fresno St., BYU, and SDSU would have been a nightmare to get out of.

Thoughts on the pecking order of the MWC?
Every season would we would be sending at least 1 team to a BCS Bowl, if not 2, but Wyo would be floating around 4-8 to 8-4.

And if that was our conference how would the MWC compare to the PAC12, and Big12?
Would an undefeated team (13-0) be playing in the National Championship?

Would USU and SJSU be invited if the big teams would have stayed?

So much "What could have been" talk here, just interested in what others think would have been.
Would Wyo be better off? Worse than now?

Whole lot of shoulda coulda woulda......its hard to even fathom this scenario, cause the Power 5 were bound to ravage the MWC in all scenarios. We would never get to have our cake and eat it. Its a pipe dream at best.

There is a whole bunch of shoulda coulda woulda but had the BCS status review come a couple years earlier, when Utah, TCU, and BYU were still in the MWC, do you think MWC would have gotten a bid?
Or do you think it was ALWAYS about big money and not football quality?

A MWC with all those schools would have gotten an auto-bid in a world where football is fair, yes.

Unfortunately, that world does not exist.

That is an easy no. As we only got invited after Boise SUDS played with the big east.
I am not sure you would have seen Nevada or Fresno State in the scenario either. I would think that TCU would have wanted someone closer to them if/when expansion came.

USU fan here.

Gotta agree with AF33, but with a different slant. BYU and Utah blocked us from the original WAC, the expanded super WAC, and the MWC. Neither one of them would ever have allowed USU into any conference they belonged to. If Utah and BYU both went to hell, they'd keep Utah State out.

Me, I'm just happy to be here.
