I'd put us, SJSU, and UNLV on the clock. Maybe even HI. If it starts turning out that our terrible performance is costing the NY6 bid, I'd form a coalition and give those teams the boot.

Things have changed. It is a performance based business and dead weight can cost you millions. We need a sense of urgency.

So wait now....after the majority stated that Tony Sanchez would bomb, after so many torched the move to hire him, now, based upon 1 game, UNLV and Tony Sanchez will be just fine? I gotta get a grip on this 'one game thing', cause it's effects can be powerful man. I'm finding out that one game can make a program rise or fail big time. Especially the first game of the year. More on this, please.

UNLV looked better Saturday night, but I want to see how they play over their next 3 or 4 games before I say they are better.

Maybe UNI struggled because they didn't have tape on UNLV before the game.
Expect UCLA to destroy them Saturday.

SJSU just beat the #9 ranked FCS by 30 and dropped over 700 yards of offense on them. Maybe look at some of the other teams who had crap performances against non-scholarship teams like Fresno and San Diego. Even Utah St got lucky against a mediocre Southern Utah team.

Actually DINO, if you read my posts, I didn't blast the hire after seeing his assistants.

1 game is not the point of this thread. The point is dead weight now can cost millions for the conference. You can argue over who that dead weight is but that isn't the point. A set of 8-10 good to decent teams might be better than 12 teams. Us and SJSU would be prime candidates in a MWC contraction. If our ineptitude costs the MWC champ, a NY6 bid, I wouldn't blame them for booting us

Like I said, the game has changed.

And to that same extent, we should give the Cowboys 3 or 4 games before we claim them a dud. I know what I saw saturday and it was ugly. But its one game, lets see what adjustments can be made this week.

Mike, the point isn't so much which team as it is how now performance takes center stage. A G5 conference is better off with 8 or 9 good to decent teams and trim off the bottom.

Then that's where UNLV and Hawaii would be the first to go. They don't offer anything to the conference.

Plus, you have to have 12 teams to have a championship game. We all saw how that cost the Big 12 a spot in the playoffs last year.

Had the rest of the conference been decent, they would have been fine. Big 12 needs a Strong OU and TX.

The title game for us hasn't been as big a booster as dropping dead weight would be. You could take any of WYO, SJSU, UNLV, HI, and maybe UNM and drop them thereby improving sos for remaining schools.

Any logic is falling on deaf ears at this point... Sad, really.

I'd get my own house in order before I look around at other schools that theoretically need to be kicked out of the conference. There's a lot of people around the MWC that look at Wyoming the same way.

That was the point of the thread. Since the landscape has now changed (relative to the formation of the MWC12), contractions could actually benefit the top teams. Frankly, there are not enough good programs to warrant 2 divisions.

WYO is very much an anchor in this conference, and us, along with others, have the potential to keep the MWC champ out of the NY6 Bowl. That would cost the conference and our champ millions. If I were BSU, I'd know what I'd want to do and it isn't good for WYO and the rest of the bottom feeders.
