I've heard that he had not chance of seeing the field. With the other LB's we have he was fairly far down the depth chart.

The other LB wasn't kicked off for roids. It was for smoking pot. He got caughtn a test i during the 2008 Bowl game.
From what I heard Diehl didn't have the heart during practice. The other guys would just practice harder and passed him by.

That is more along the lines of what I heard as well. He didn't have the effort that others did, running some of the drills (even though he was more physical and more talented as an athlete). From what I was told, that was the start of it all...start of the coaching staff being overly critical of him basically.
As a former coach, one thing that many coaches miss out on (and it pains me to watch these overpaid coaches think they know everything), is that you can't treat all your kids the same exact way...some need the "in the face" some need the "love", etc., etc.
By the way, you sure it wasn't roids? Weed???? That doesn't get you a year off at CSewe or anywhere else. Unless of course, it was the 3rd or 4th offense and the authorities were involved...which if that is the case, CSewe did a phenominal job sweeping it under the rug. Come to think of it they did that anyway...

positive it was weed. One positive test and it's a mandatory year suspension.
