Including Gagliardi in today's WTE.
While a majority of the content in the report just released was information or feelings that people were already aware of...the facts are that NOBODY was ever talking about them - PARTICULARLY the esteemed members of the press who cover the POKES programs.
Where was Gags, or Schmoldt/Fredrickson previously, with exposes on what they felt should be done to upgrade athletics, listing for their readers their own thoughts, their own frustrations, their own feelings about a lack of accountability and a culture of just trying hard not being good enough?
People are missing the point that this stuff is now out there for everyone to see and to dissect, it's not the elephant in the room that nobody wishes to talk about anymore.
To simply claim that the info contained in the report was something we all knew prior, and therefore a waste of time, is a narrow minded thought process of limited acumen when assessing this situation.
People are now engaged, the report has taken a huge flashlight and pointed it on the UW Athletics program, forcing the University, the politicians, the supporters, and the fans, to collectively take an interest in re-shaping UW Football & Basketball in a way that provides the state with the kinds of competitive teams people have been clamoring for for years now.
Something everyone already knew?
No, something that now everyone is aware of under the parameters of an entirely new set of demands and expectations.
