I know I'm reaching here but...

we are just 5 points total away from being 2-1. I have confidence that the offense will improve once brett gets back under center. If Brett Plays we beat this team easily by 20 points. I know losses are losses but we aren't that far away from having a good record going into conference play.

I am embarrassed that our back up qb is so abysmal. He took all the snaps with the first team during spring ball and he has known most of the week I'm sure that he's the guy. So the long and short of it, I hope Brett Comes back next week and I hope we bring our A game the rest of the way. We have three teams left we should beat easily with a healthy brett and I still say he gives us a chance in every game from here out.

Take the offense out of it. When you can't defend the option when it is ran over and over again you will not win a game. By the way when are open tryouts?

They only scored 10 points in the second half, I think we did far better defending it in the second half. It was two plays in the first 5 minutes of the game that truly lost it. And that was embarrassing!

You're right. The defense actually played ok the last 55 minutes. Plus, our offense didn't help them out by doing virtually nothing most of the game.

There were some BAD miscues on defense, but the did a lot better the rest of the game. Meaning if we went up against a team that could actually pass, well, the Texas and Toledo games give you a good idea of how it would have turned out.

I saw them compete against a Texas team that just humiliated Ole Miss and will likely be a top 25 ball club when all is said and done. I saw them compete against, and should have beaten a decent Toledo team. I don't think it's any coincidence that we were without our top two players of the game against Texas in our loss last night and looked bad on offense.

Our Defense was very disappointing in the first quarter especially. We also were without our starting Strong Safety and defensive lineman from the texas game and they are expected to be back.

This team has been pretty snake bitten early on and I hope we can get healthy and stay healthy from here on out. We do need brett though. I believed Kirkigard would be at least half the qb brett smith is but he isn't even a tenth of the qb brett is.

He wasn't the one calling the plays - the coaches were. The conservative play calling put us in 3rd & long just about every series. He didn't have a chance.
Our 3rd down efficiency was around 15%. Their's was around 48% - and most of their 3rd downs were made when they were 3rd & long.

I think they had plays called and he was making the wrong reads or immidiatly throwing to his first option and if he wasn't open he was screwed. I think the conservative play calling was in part due to his skill set. You have to have the skills to do certain things in this offense and he doesn't have them. I hope it's just growing pains because we may see him again next week.

5 points from being 2-1 is true, what really hurts is those 2 close losses were at home... ouch!, we should win those.

From here on out I think we will still be favored against Idaho, CSU, UNLV, & NM. Which means we will have to pull at least 2 upsets just to get bowl eligible and we have already lost 2 games we were favored in at home. It doesn't look good but it still can happen. An uphill battle just to get 6-6... not what many were hoping for this year.

I'm not completely sold on Fresno St, SDSU, or AFA as they have yet to beat someone better than our worst loss Cal-Poly (#98 according to Sagarin ratings). Fresno St best win = #147 Weber St, SDSU best win = #126 Army, AFA only win = #195 Idaho St. IF we can beat say...AFA and SDSU at home, we will still probably need SDSU to lose their OOC game to San Jose St to get a bowl bid, which means I will have to root for a MWC loss (which I really don't like doing) but unfortunately we are already at that point this year.

Pokes need to turn this around... I hope Brett gets to play against Idaho. (Wyoming #93, Idaho #141.. per Sagarin)

Note to UW... NEVER ever wear white pants at home... I thought we would break the jinx with an FCS team, but the streak continues.

That's what i was wondering. The play calling was sooo conservative until the final drive and then he threw an int. Do they really have that little confidence in him and was it warranted? If so, why don't we have a viable backup?

To be honest I think they had a great back up but he decided to transfer because he wanted to be a starter somewhere. Pitser was actually ranked higher then Brett was coming out of high school and they red shirted him last year so he could be the back up from here on out. I think that Kirkigard really is just the necessary evil right now because we're red shirting the other guy and he just happens to be the best we got right now.

That's true, I had forgotten about that. Guess it's hard to blame the coaching staff for Pittster transferring.

points are points: in this day and age it's all about W's and L's and currently we aren't getting it done simple enough

my other question is: how can the play from one QB to another drop off so drastically?? that's truly what I can't understand, kinda scary if Brett gets knocked out in an game in the future, then where are we going to be?
