The students were pretty good when Bailey/Davis were there. That's when I started college. It has just been a long run of having huge let downs year after year. I love what Shyatt is building but most of the students were born in the 90's and were 6-10 years old the last time we went to the big dance. Its going to take finishing the year this year without a huge letdown (like the last few years) to bring the students all the way back.
When the students started that stupid cheer, I could hear it on the radio and just shook my head. They need someone to organize and bring back the newspapers and the info on the other players for heckling purposes but they also need to never do that I believe chant again ever! Who is the leader of the 6th man club or whatever its called now?

I'll be honest, the student section was pretty damn good during the CU game this year. They showed up, they were loud, and their chants were reasonably creative. They actually made a difference.
When the students show up nowadays, they actually do a pretty decent job. They'll never bring back all the distinct cheers and whatnot from whenever all of us were in college, but I'm happy that they have the opportunity to do their own thing. They'll be around for conference play. They tend to show up until we get some sort of an injury and hit the skids.
Also, having gone to a few games this year, their presence on the floor has certainly increased their rowdiness. At least for the SRO section. I wish they'd rip out the padded seats for the upper, student section and give them benches. Make it like the stadium, where the benches are aluminum and the concrete is covered in metal.
Having said all that, I wish that more students would come, and I wish they'd show up on a more regular basis. The season ticket holders are a bigger problem than the students, however.

If the ticket police don't let the fans who do show up go down to the lower bowl, and the lower bowl is those season ticket holders who don't show up, something needs to change.
