How much progress do you expect this year?

Ok, really don't laugh. We all know this year is largely a wash and youth is everywhere. The D couldn't stop teenage girls from rushing a pop star.

However, if Bohl is as advertised, we should see some improvement somewhere.

I think the D will get substantially better (withholding joke about how it can't get worse), but I do think once the young guys figure out their roles a little better, they'll play quite a bit better.

The O has shown some flashes from time to time. I think we start to see a few more consistent drives out of them.

Mind you, I'm fully aware that WYO is willing to wait until Bohl retires to turn this thing around. The MWC mountain is so daunting that it will take at least that long and BSU, USU, SDSU, FSU, CSU, and HI leaving before we compete. I get it. I'm just asking about improvement parameters you expect to see the remainder of the season---surely there should be something.

I think the entire Defense will improve. LB's will get better with gap assignments and the secondary will get more comfortable with 5 yard bumps and coverage as well as pursuit on the carrier.

I don't think the offense is in terrible shape but we certainly need someone else to step up and be a big time receiver that can run routes and is smart enough to realize a scrambling QB needs a target that moves towards him instead of standing around waiting.

Agree on the defense...especially the db's and linebackers. There has to be a steep learning curve for all the guys playing this year who didn't play last year.....or those who played a different position last year. I also expect to see improvement from Coffman and the freshman wr's as they get more familiar with the offense, etc. The Oline too. A couple new faces this year compared to last. I think we saw improvement from game #1 to game #2 from that unit.

It certainly can't get any worse. I refuse to think 0-12 will happen. I think the defense continues to be horrible (they always get worse as the year goes on, injuries, etc.), but that the run game bails out Wyoming at least once. Maybe vs. UNM, AF, UNR, UNLV.

If Bohl is as good as advertised, and our recruiting really has improved under this staff, then I would expect us to somehow win at least 4 games this year. No matter how young we are this is an historically down year for the conference. There is no reason we shouldn't be able to beat New Mexico and UNLV at home. I would then hope we could steal one or two at home against Nevada, CSU or Air Force.

If we could somehow get to 3 wins after this start I could convince myself that Bohl just needs more time even if he needs to tweak his staff and what he's doing. 2 wins and I really start to question things. 1 win or 0 wins and I am officially off the bandwagon. 1-11 or 0-12 is Mike Locksley / Vic Koenning territory and I don't think programs come back from that. It would make an already steep recruiting hill that much harder to climb.

If the offense can continue to improve anything can happen and we may get one. So I think we'll win one. The defense will suck eternally not because of the DBs, I actually think we have a very talented group of them that will get better and better, but because our DL and LBs are pathetic. They are tiny and get no push! No one can expect the DBs to cover for 5-10 seconds. Until we can recruit real D linemen and LBs we're not going to turn this thing around. If and when we can get some Dlinemen and LBs we'll be a bowl team.

Not sure how Bohl's recruiting could be questioned when he has had two classes......most of his most recent class is redshirting. We can look at examples like Brian Hill, Robert Priester, and Ryan Cummings...since they are the only guys who have played more than two games. I think those guys can form a solid foundation for the future.

If anything, the lack of depth at linebacker is something we can questioned. The only linebacker recruit from last year jumped ship and a backup or two from last year couldn't play this year because of injury.

I don't think I'm questioning it too much quite yet. I'm just saying if it really is improved then we ought to be able to win at least 3 goddamn games. I don't think that's too much to expect and I guess we'll see.

I think our offense will turn out to be decent. We need a young WR or two to step up and give us some more speed and athleticism there other than Gentry but I think they will. I think our D will improve as the year goes(the required"it can't get worse") as the young guys gain experience. This all relies on there not being major injuries. If our D is decimated by injuries or Cam goes down again then all bets are off.

I think this involves not playing Mulhardt so much. Put in Murphy!!

This year, not much. Everyone around us will follow a similar pattern of improvement, so we may not see a lot on the field (or scoreboard).

Next year, different story. Naturally I think that way, I am a Wyoming fan.

The two phrases I've heard most often since moving to Wyoming:

1. The winters are horrible, but just wait until the wonderful 6-week summers!

2. We'll be better next year...

I expect better communication between LB and DL. that will help a fair amount. I expect the same growth from the OL. I also expect we play hard every play. If we do that and assuming some good health (risky assumption so far) we should stop being an embarassment.

BTW, I like winter. Nothing like poring 60' of concrete in the snow in august.
