How many players in each spot is ideal

In your opinion, knowing you have 85 scholarships how do you break them out? In a very simplistic model that assumes a 4-3 D and spread O?

Something like this?

QB- 4
OL -- 16
WR - 10
RB - 4
TE - 4

O total -- 38

Corner -- 6
Safety -- 6
LBs-- 12
DL -- 16

D total --40

K -- 4

That gives me 82 players so 3 scholarships to play with and pick the best available player.

I suspect we each would emphasize positions differently.

I think you're a little deep on the D line. Here's how I would want it:

QB - 4
OL - 14
WR - 12
TE - 5
RB - 4

O total - 39

Corner - 10
Safety - 5
LB - 10
DL - 12

D total - 37

K/P - 4

80 total with 5 schollies for blue chips.

I think having more corners is crucial to playing the pass better in our league. 3 deep at each position on the D line would keep them plenty fresh. O line wouldn't rotate much, but you want to have a backup ready in case someone goes down or graduates.
