How long til Adams takes starting spot?

The last couple of games Adams has been getting about 30 minutes a game while Grabau has been hurting. Adams has a nice game w/12 points against CU showing he can definitely step up to the pressure.
How long til he is starting? They say no one loses their starting job to injury, but we all know that is the biggest lie in all of sports.

If Grabau isn't feeling better by conference play, he may redshirt the rest of the season, with Adams taking over.

Hmm, I wonder if Grabaus knee feels better tomorrow if Adams gets only 15 or so minutes like he was doing early in the season, or if Shyatt gives him 30.

Adams is going to be a stud, he is better than Grabou right now IMHO

I agree.
Adams could very well be the next Wyoming great. If Leonard or Larry Nance don't steal that first.

Grabau is the best ball handler on our team and he should start with the way we run our offense if he isn't injured. Sounds like he is in a lot of pain though. Not sure if he will be able to make it through the whole year. Adams is a great spark off of the bench. Obviously if Grabau can't go then Adams will be the starter.

Next year it looks like our starting back court will be Grabau and Adams which should be very good.

Leonard is the best player I have seen at Wyoming since Dembo and Leckner. And yes I do think Leonard looks better than Ratliff or Slater in college atleast from a scoring perspective although Ratliff was a great shot blocker and Slater was a great rebounder Leonard brings a little bit of both of those with his game so I say all around player wise Leonard is the best I've seen since that 88 team. Leonard can score at will downlow on anyone and his interior passing with Nance looks great.

He was a beast the other night and unstoppable against guys that should be NBA players in the future.

Grabau, Adams, Nance, Cooke, and an unnamed, unknown superstud freshman recruit might make next year as good or better than this one.

Don't forget the player that transferred here from Alabama. I can't remember his name right now. He will be good to go.
And yes some of those recruits look good. And if McManamen can earn a spot he might be a very nice surprise.

Yeah I forgot about him. His name is Hankerson. You will probably see a 3 guard lineup next year with Grabau ,Adams and Hankerson. Hankerson was a top 100 recruit out of high school just like Washington if I remember right. With Shyatt coaching Hankerson you might see him play to his potential. Seems like Shyatt makes all of his players better than what everyone thinks they can be.

That is gonna be a killer. Along with Nance being a JR. AAAh hell yes!
But let's focus on this team here and now!

I don't see Adams starting over Grabau as long as Riley stays healthy, I think Shyatt loves him in that 6th man role and Grabau hasn't done anything to lose that spot.

But if Grabau misses a few games in a row and Adams is tearin it up does Adams get the start?

Adams really reminds me of Brett McFall. He is scrappy, afraid of no one, will score when he can, passes the ball through any window, brings energy off the bench, and handles the ball well. Hell he wears the same number too. I would like him to start but don't think it's necessarily wrong for Grabau to start, he's pretty good in his own right. He's got a little marcus bailey to him. This team is pretty talented, starters through 1st line replacements. Gonna be a fun year! GO POKES

imagine if we had Leonard for 4 years under Shyatt, whew

I think if Reilly sits out a few games he returns to his starting role. Both Adams and Gillmore sometimes get going to fast and Riley does such a good job not going fast and playing controlled, I think that is why Shy loves having him on the floor he controls our tempo, he helps push when we want to push, and when we need to slow it down he does that too. Adams is such good energy and having a decent basketball background I know how important a great 6th man with energy and scoring ability off the bench is (Jason Terry, Jamal Crawford, Nate Robinson, James Harden, Manu) Adams is playing so well in his role, why change it?

Adams is also playing really well in his new extended role of 30 minutes a game running with the other starters.
It's an interesting thing to me. If Grabau comes back, then we will have a more controlled, yet slower offense. And our bench will be getting more points. Because if Adams straight up takes the starting job, then we have more turnovers with the starter, but IDK if Grabau comes and puts up points and energy off the bench like Adams

First I would like to say how excited I am that we are debating over people starting! That shows that we have so much more depth than we have in the past and is a great thing whenever there i an argument on both sides. Second I said before the season started I like Grabau starting, he is a great ball handler and is a true point guard. Also he has a great assist to turnover ratio and can shoot so I like him starting. I like Adams coming off the bench because of his great energy and spark, plus I think he is more suited to come off the bench while Grabau looks more like a starter to me. I would rather have Riley handle the ball than Gilmore at the point, but Gilmore scores good points and is more like a shooting guard playing point.

Anybody know what the extent of the problem is with Riley's knee? If it is a tendon tear and needs surgery, I would not be surprised to see him go redshirt - if it isn't too late now. If it just needs to be scoped, then he would probably be good to go by conference time. When he is healthy, he is an important part of this team.
