Welcome to the board.
We think Nebraska is going to win, but think Wyo has a chance as long as Brett Smith is healthy and playing.
Wyo has a great QB with a really good group of WR. One of the WR is Herron who Wyo fans will tell anyone he is probably faster than anyone on the opposing defense. No one believes us, but Texas fans found out real fast that Herron has legit speed. He burned the Texas secondary a couple times last season in the season opener. If the Nebraska secondary slips at all Herron can end up in the endzone with the ball in the matter of a few seconds.
Other than our QB-WRs, Wyo fans aren't too excited, at least don't have much to be excited about.
The RBs aren't too good. We have Brandon Miller who will probably get the start, and has been bouncing back between RB and WR the last couple season. There is a sophomore RB who was decent as a freshman last season but wasn't anything special. Then a couple of freshman RBs.
The O-Line is always questionable, but since Wyo runs the spread they don't need to be great for all that long.
The defense has been awful for years, but that was running a 4-3. The Pokes are going back to a 3-4 this season, and that is what Wyo was running the last time they had a "good" or "decent" defense. The Pokes have some pretty big boys on the D-Line with a couple of pretty good LBs. But the other 2 not so good. The secondary is, well who knows. A good safety, and a good corner. The other 2, just like the LBs, not so good, in my opinion.
Wyo will be able to put up points, but odds are Nebraska will run all over them.
From a Cowboys fan, the way for Wyo to win this game is by putting up a bunch of points quickly on a new/untested Nebraska D, and hoping to make Taylor Martinez throw as much as possible and hope to get some turnovers.
The philosophy for the Wyo D will be bend but not break, and get some turnovers at perfect times.
Pretty much all of that has to happen for Wyo to win. Anything else then Nebraska will win, and probably win by a lot.
