Great point from Coach Shyatt

Papa Shy brought up a great point after the game. This isn't the tournament that we wanted to be in, but it is the postseason. By the time they play on Monday only 42 teams in the nation will still be playing basketball. If they make the championship only 8 teams in the country will still be playing.

I'm guilty of being down on this team for the last month. The season ground me down, but it didn't seem to effect the players. These guys are in this tournament to win it, and I'll damn sure be there to support them for the next game!

Survive and advance that's all they need this time of year, I like the fact that if we make the championship it's best 2 outta 3, 2 more games in Laramie would be even great!!! I treat them like a soap opera that I'm addicted to and every game is a new adventure...lol

I think post-season is always a positive. I didn't understand those that thought we should not participate. There are no downsides from my perspective. D1 athletes only get so many opportunities at competition before their eligibility expires. I am sure they want to continue playing. The coaches get extra time with the returnees, and the fans get to watch more basketball (ok, so there weren't any fans, but still). Win, win, win.

Of course, we all know that losing in the first round of the NCAA>>>>>>>>>>CBI Champion, but we take the opportunities available to us.

Seriously? Forgive and forget. We've all made mistakes at that age, some of us at the very same bar-just not as costly or public.
Let him be...The kid is gonna regret this the rest of his life.

I disagree completely and i'm pretty sure the players still playing disagree with you as well.

Pretty sure you are wrong about the players. They want to be in the NCAA tournament.

Of course, winning the CBI>>losing in the CBI, so I am sure the players want to win at this point. But there is no way they wanted to be watching on TV the last couple of days. They wanted to be in the tournament. They put in a tremendous amount of effort before and during the season with the goal of making the NCAA tournament and playing on the big stage.

That goes for any team. Any team wants to be in the NCAA tourny. But being able to advance and win in the CBI, build up confidence, maybe even win it, is better than sputtering and embarrassing yourself in the very first round of the NCAA tourny as so many teams have done, especially UNM and UNLV. At least by playing multiple times in the CBI, the younger guys can continue to get valuable experience and continue to grow as a team while the older guys can still play some more B-ball.

So yeah, at this point, being in the CBI is more valuable than the NCAA.
