UW men's hoops signs wing player from Sweden

LARAMIE -- University of Wyoming men's basketball coach Larry Shyatt announced Friday the signing of Alexander Aka Gorski of Lund, Sweden. The 6-5, 210-pound shooting guard will have four years of eligibility.

"The addition of Alex provides us with a well-coached deep shooter that we continue to need as our program moves forward in the Mountain West,” Shyatt said. “We were impressed with Alex’s maturity on the court and basketball intellect, which he developed during his experience with the Swedish national team and the great success Sunrise Christian (Kan.) has had.

This should tell us that this is as big a get as this staff has had. They REALLY wanted this kid, and it seemed like we may not get him. Kudos to Coach Shy and staff for landing him!

It's apparent that Alex is already very adept at catch-and-shoot (well) on the perimeter. We'll find out soon enough how well he can take people off the dribble and how well he guards on the defensive end against solid D-1 competition. Here's hoping he's the complete package. Obviously, the staff is happy.

NIce, solid class. Now, if the Pokes can just stay away from bad news and bad injuries, maybe Papa Shy can really start making noise in conference and post-season. That would hopefully lead to even higher-rated classes down the road. It's time for this staff to catch some good luck.

Gonna have to man up this year and by some season tix instead of my usual several singles.

Also, nice to see a bunch of familiar names form elsewheres on the interwebs.
