Good write-up on mid-major teams

I just want a win tonight. I don't care if it's by 1 or 100, I just want another win. Ugly, pretty, close, or blwout, a win tonight would be huge for the Pokes, and for the MWC as a whole.

Cool article but the MWC hasn't been considered a mid major in basketball for a number of years. I think even on espn's mid major rankings they don't include MW. I know they are talking up teams from conferences not in AQ conferences but still the term midmajor is somewhat deragatory for the MW. Just a little annoyance of mine. Carry on. Good press though. Beat the red birds.

me toooooooo....and yes its good to belong in a conference where we matter in something...baskeball....this BCS stuff in Football is getting ridiculous and we'll probably never play for anything important, unless we get hot Brett's senior year and beat both Oregon and Michigan and run the table after that...hey it's nice to dream!!!

The only reason the MWC isn't a "mid-major" conference anymore is because that was ESPN's way of sticking it to the conference for forming The Mtn. network. ESPN provides a lot of coverage to the top 6 conference and to mid-majors. If the MWC is somewhere in the middle, they get no coverage.

The MWC certainly is a mid-major conference, although we play better basketball than many of the major conferences. The difference is game attendance and TV revenues. The way that SDSU, New Mexico, UNLV, and even CSU are selling tickets these days, we're closing the gap.

I would not include CSU in there yet, they can barely get 4k at any game unless it is a ranked team. They should be easily selling out that arena for every basketball game, however they are not which is pretty pathetic and they need to do a better job for that team and for our conference.

The MWC and the A-10 are not known as "mid-majors" for some time now. I remember when ESPN started their bracket buster weekend , and the MWC declined playing in it stating they are not mid-major. Can't remember if A-10 plays in it or not.
