Good news for Bohl,

aside from Boise State and UNM basketball, Wyoming has the best traveling fan base in the MWC. If he does get eligible, we'll be high on every MWC bowls list, because we travel and we spend money.

Yep....always thought it was weird how WMS can be half-full on a regular basis, but there can be parking lots blanketed with brown and gold on the road.

I think a lot of people don't think it's worth going to Laramie for a weekend and spending tons of money but do think it's worth it traveling to SLC, Logan, ABQ, Vegas, or San Diego. If you're paying nearly the same price why not go and check something new out? Why go to a game in Laramie for the 100th time?

With Laramie, it's gotta be either alumni or native Wyomingites that would come to Laramie to see a game or reminisce about their college experience at UW. It has to go beyond homecoming weekend.

Wyoming has bled from college kids leaving after graduation for years. There just aren't enough jobs in Wyoming . Its been a known issue for years and the State keep tries to create more local jobs.

Its obvious though. Any time you travel and wear pokes gear - you run into a UW grad. They would love to be back in Wyoming, but they almost always end up where the jobs are - and that is out of state. We probably have one of the most spread out fan bases in the nation.

I've always wondered what our media market looks like when you realize we have fans everywhere.

If it's not energy related, it seems like you are moving out of state for a job after you graduate.

Yup, Mines and Oilfield about the only secure futures there.

That, and CNAs.

In Laramie, most jobs require a lot of manual labor (fast food, check out at stores, that sort of thing), not something a college grad with a degree in structural enginering would want to do. Teaching wise, Wyoming's not bad. Most other things, not so much.

Yeah Dell, or Intel aren't moving here anytime soon.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. They might not move their headquarters to Laramie, but I'll be shocked if Laramie doesn't end up with several tech businesses in it. They've got all kinds of incentives and are getting great press for tech business relocation.

Really?

I knew Laramie was trying to grow, but I don't really know how, or what kind of growing they are aiming at.

There is a good sized contingency in Utah. I agree, if you wear pokes garb, someone always mentions it.

Yeah, that's the focus. They're targeting tech since Cheyenne already has a growing cluster of tech. They're building the Syrrus Sky Tech park in Laramie. They already have the Technology Business Incubator. They're working on a statewide upgrade to the network. Once Syrrus is done, Laramie will have business ready land. With the state incentives and the national press we're gaining as a tech business relocation power, it's only a matter of time. Right now we're taking advantage of the nations tightened gun laws to attract gun businesses, but you will see some tech hit Laramie pretty soon. It's only a matter of time. The LEDC thinks 50,000 residents is possible in Laramie in the next 10 years. They're confident of it. When that happens, then you're looking at a lot more restaurants, a mall, better shopping options, more bars, maybe a dance club of sorts. It will really help make Laramie a lot more attractive to students. That's all going to be built around technology businesses and gun businesses. Get ready for change in Laramie because it's coming.

Wow that's cool.
They really need to upgrade the dorms if they want to attract even more students.
Laramie with all that growth, and some new dorms, and upgraded sports facilities and winning teams, then this place would really hoppin.
