Gilmore, Willie Fritz candidates?

Ted Gilmore = Heath Schroyer.

If there is no market for a coach's services at your level, there is usually a reason for that.

No other MWC school would have touched Schroyer as head coach, yet we hired him because he was a friend of Burman. No other MWC school would touch Gilmore as a head football coach either. No reason to hire him just because of his UW ties.

Damn, I guess I will have to revise my position on Gilmore. I thought he sounded like a new option than what we have tried before and liked his resume. Is there some kind of cronyism with Burman as was the case the Schryoer or simply someone who is not qualified for the job?

No Burman ties or anything, just don't think he is qualified for a MWC HC job. UW ties are not as important to me as qualifications. Maybe I should have said Gilmore = Steve Gosar, probably a more accurate representation.

I disagree with your outlook and opinion and think you are overlooking one of the most important aspects of being a coach in Wyoming and that is understanding it before you tackle it. While Gilmore isn't a current head coach he has significantly more upper tier experience than any previous coach except Tiller.

He has been with some big named schools and clearly he has grown in experience from the College level and ended up in the NFL. Does it mean he can coach? No certainly not but I definitely wouldn't overlook him.

Bob Stitt
90-57 Solid record but not on the FBS level. What stands out about him is he is close enough to know Wyoming. That means he should also know it's not just going to be a walk in the park to get players and win.

Willie Fritz
128–56 Proven record not on the FBS level. ( I'm not 100% against an FCS hire just worried about it. ) Also he is at nearly the perfect destination for the division he is coaching.

Jeff Tedford
82–57 Proven FBS level Football while his record is better than DC had his conference wins are barely positive.

Ed Orgeron
16-27 Been with a few programs sooooo ya not doing cartwheels here. Not really enough research TBH turned off by the record alone. I'll look further into it before I just cross him off the list.

Mark Mangino
50-48 Winning but again more of a track record that duplicates the lack of success we already have had.

I dunno I'm not exactly jumping up and down for any names in here but Gilmore already knowing what he would be getting into stands out as a more positive situation. At least he gets WR results everywhere he has coached receivers he has had positive results. Maybe he can duplicate it coaching, However I understand your comments I just don't agree with them.

Mountain West Connection had this piece.. I'm less than thrilled about either.

Agree. Especially Fritz - as SHS is the catch all for Texas talent that couldn't make it at Tech, AssToMouth, Texas, TCU, SMU, Houston, Rice, Baylor, TSU, NT, etc., etc., etc.

It seems Burman wants a head coach to fill the spot (would consider a assistant if he had to).

I would think at this moment the most logical candidates are somewhat successful ex-BCS HC's like Mangino or Tedford. Then you have FCS HC's like Craig Bohl, Willie Fritz, Brock Spack, etc.

I don't see Ed O wanting to come to Wyoming as he as always coached at a warm weather destination.

Right or wrong I don't see Gilmore getting hired over coaches with prior HC experience.
