Geeez cowgirls...

Average Joe strikes again. No motivation for this team which is dumbfounding.

With few exceptions (2007 NIT run being one), the Cowgirl program has largely shit the bed when it comes to pressure games & situations. Mostly occurring in the MW tourney unfortunately. Let's hope they can reverse that trend Friday night when they host Boise State for what is now the conference regular season championship.

Liv Roberts does not show up on the stats sheet. So she must not have played. That could easily account for the loss. Any word on why she missed the game?

She was sick and didn't play.It is most likely the reason they lost but they still needed to win without her.

Air Force was 3-24. I would hope the Cowgirls could win that game without Roberts knowing what that a championship is on the line. And its not like they got beat on a desperation 3 or anything flukey.

I'm not making excuses for the loss...

But I find it insulting to the women's program that nearly the first time a thread is dedicated to the women's team it is to criticize the ladies for the loss to Air Force. The Cowgirls are still tied for first place in the MWC!! Inexplicable losses happen and especially when a team is without its best player.

Feel free to carry on trashing the women's program but that team has competed very well this year and has a great chance to win the MWC tournament and advance to the NCAAs. At a minimum the Cowgirls look to be in the NIT.

There have been a handful of threads sprinkled in here that show considerable praise for being #1 in conference and on the cusp of a championship.

There have been like 2-3 threads total this season on women's basketball. Without looking my guess is none since January-ish. Certainly very disproportionate for a team that has been in first place for the majority of MWC play.

My point is that it comes off a bit poorly when the first thread in a long time is loaded with criticism for a team that is overachieving according to all MWC preseason polls and that has largely competed well.

Well...it is women's basketball, which isn't the most popular sport followed by UW fans (including message board fans). And I would put the loss up there as the 2nd worse loss Wyoming athletics has had this scholastic year (SJSU Football), so I can clearly see why the OP posted what he/she did, and why people commented - that is what message boards are all about.

Damn we have some thin-skinned posters here.

OrediggerPoke,

This is Division 1 basketball. coaches get paid very large amounts of Money to win. toughen up. A loss to a very poor team with 3 wins all season and with the chance of winning at the conference on the line is inexcusable. People are to soft, I thing its the effects of this "we tried our best mentality, aw shucks, participation medal society". cowgirls should have one that game period.

I'm far from thin-skinned; that's why I voice my opinion. But if you're offering a snickers, I'd be happy to take you up on that (second favorite behind Kit-Kat).
