Gameday Ideas

for tailgating purposes I really like the later start times 2:00 or later. That way I can tailgate long enough to make it worth while to setup tv/sat dish, etc. Noon games really don't work well for tailgating imo.

+1

And you've got a lot more games already being played to watch and listen to as you're getting ready for the Wyo game.
And more time to cook food, and take care of stuff.
2 pm is perfect.

Grow Laramie to about 100,000 in population and Cheyenne to a quarter million population. Problem solved.

I do see Cheyenne growing quite a bit in the next 5 years. The oil boom is about to hit with the production from a recent "confidential" well. I forecast the landscape around Cheyenne (more particularly East of Cheyenne) drastically changing. Stay tuned.

Excuse me sir. Are you buying (or have already bought) any real estate in East Cheyenne?

Nope. Unfortunately, I do not have readily available finances for significant real estate purchases other than my residential residence which is not located in East Cheyenne.

I know a good way to always have 30,000+ people at the games. Get these guys to play.

I couldn't find that anyone had mentioned this, but Fargo's population is 110,000. I feel that is very important to mention when comparing NDSU to UW athletic attendance.

And Moorhead across the river.... the Fargo-Moorhead metro is over 200,000... theres only 500,000 in our entire state

A lot of people do come up from Colorado.

There are approximately 130,000 people in Albany and Laramie counties. This is a decent population base to filling the War. The biggest problem is that our athletic department lacks the vision to attract these fans on a weekly/game by game basis. We should be able to find adequate support for athletics by concentrating on the I 25 corridor ( casper, Cheyenne) and alumini from the Colorado metros. The ad needs to make this an attractive option for entertainment and that likely takes serving alchohol.

I agree with making family friendly sections, but college football/athletics isn't necessarily a family friendly event ( it's not outside of Utah/Mormon schools).

Closer to 120,000.

This season for the 6 home games Wyo had the following attendances (rounded):
Idaho- 22
No.Co.-19
NM-23
CSU-25
Frenso-15.7
Hawaii-12.2

That's roughly 117, or 19.5 per game

Only 19.5 K per game.
Before we get to 28K a game, we really need to at least get 24K per game.
How can we get 5.5K more per game?
This year was a typical year for Wyo.
No big name teams that come and sell out our stadium.
Less than 20k per game is embarrassing.

While I agree, had we beaten Texas State we would've had 28K for CSU, had we beaten CSU and SJSU , you would've saw 25K+ for FU, possibly a sell-out. Had we played FU and BSU worth a shit, you would've saw another 20-25 for Hawai'i. I'm not defending it, but we were on pace for a good year attendance-wise until we repeatidly shit the bed. I wish we had fans who sold out every game for whatever the record, but for many reasons, we don't.

Agree.

You win, people come.

You lose, they don't.

Bohl had an attendance clause in his contract in Fargo. I heard that a same type of clause exists with the Pokes. There is incentive to win.

We at NDSU can give you lots of ESPN GAMEDAY ideas........... Oh wait...lol. Sorry. I couldn't resist

Bohl will make it entertaining

Don't get me wrong, as I am really pleased to have Coach Bohl coming back up to the FBS level to take over at Wyoming, but the ESPN Gameday at NDSU was more of a gimmick and a P.R. move by ESPN. Sort of a "see how the other half lives" piece. With all due respect, the road for NDSU to get yet another National Championship goes through New Hampshire, Eastern Washington or Towson. This line-up is hardly Fresno, Boise and Nebraska.

Now, having said that, if Wyoming was to play NDSU this past season, I am not too sure I would have liked the outcome.

Oh stop, NDSU last year would've wiped you away. But no need to argue, I'm on the WYO bandwagon along with thousands of NDSU fans....and ESPN loves NDSU we have been on it 3 times plus GAMEDAY! No gimmick, now the timing was right because there was no top 25 matchups I'll give ya that

You must be in management. You know well how to deliver an insult, and back it up with a complement, rinse & repeat. It makes you feel good I bet.

NDSU is a shoe in for the SEC, we get it. NDSU is god's gift to all of college football, and we (UW) should be blessed with having some ties (although very thin ties) to NDSU.

If you look at the percentages we average almost 3.5% of the state population per game. Nebraska averages just over 4% but I do wish we could add some additional attendance.
