LARAMIE — Plain and simple, North Dakota beat Wyoming at its own game Saturday afternoon.

By dominating in the ground game, passing effectively when it had to and playing stiff defense, North Dakota dealt the Cowboys a 24-13 loss before 23,669 fans at War Memorial Stadium in both teams’ season opener.

“That’s accurate, and that’s hard for me to say," second-year UW coach Craig Bohl said of losing in his own brand of football. "You’ve got to give credit where credit is due. ... We got beat, and it wasn’t by a close margin. There’s a lot of work for us to do. It’s disappointing.

"... To say that we need mass adjustments would not be accurate. We need adjustments, though. This is not a tweaking here or there. We’ve got to get some things straight in a pretty damn quick hurry.”
