Having depth in any sport is important. If a player goes down for whatever reason, having capable replacements often means the difference between winning and losing.
Depending on the sport and position, it’s also important to be able to rotate players in and out of games to keep them fresh.
Football teams rotate guys at numerous positions for that reason. Especially in this day and age where offenses run at break-neck speeds. Same can be said for the defenses trying to stop them.
You don’t see teams rotate quarterbacks much, but what other position do you typically not see a regular rotation of players?
Offensive line.
