I am praying that in a column tomorrow morning Robert Gagliardi lays wood on this program in a story that is more than justifiable.

This team needs its ass kicked in the papers...the coaching staff apparently cannot do the job themselves.

Pfft....its the papers that got everyone's hopes so high. Pretty sure most fans are in full blown "SHUT THE FUCK UP" mode right now with the journalists. No doubt, some of this anger is due to the hype they surrounded this team with.

Agreed completely J-Rod and its why I now want those same papers to blast away after providing such lofty expectations and possibilities for this club.

I had them losing 3 games total ALL YEAR.

Based upon that prognostication, we're now set to run the table, eh?

haaaaaaaaaa, Brown and Gold koolaid, i'm gettng sick....lose to Idaho and we have sunk to Vic Koenning years...ugh

I don't know about everyone else, but my expectations were all my own. After a pretty good year, I expected the team to do pretty well. But that wasn't based on anything I read on the internet or in the papers. I like to make up my own mind. My point here is that I don't think any fault or responsibility lies with the media. There job is to cover the program and provide news, not set expectations. And it's up to the coaching staff to fix the problem, not the media to lambast the players and coaches in order to get it fixed. Do any of us really believe that DC, the assistants, and the players want to be losing? I don't and I think they'll get it fixed this week against Idaho.

Here's a little food for thought. If we look at last year, the team could have very easily been in this year's boat. We barely beat Weber at home (last second field goal). We barely win at Bowling Green (1 pt), and then we get crushed by Nebraska. Granted we handled Texas state (like we should have handled Cal Poly), but we could have easily been 1-3 at the beginning of last season as well. Would we have been calling for DC's head then? I doubt it.

Bottom line: there's still a lot of football to be played. Let's see how the team bounces back against Idaho before we start digging graves.

GO POKES!

the difference IMO is that we had guys last year on D who just flat out made plays when we needed them. Our d wasn't "great", but a few guys took it upon themselves to make plays. 2012 is missing in action.

I don't disagree about the defense. I just think there's more to the story. Does Tormey not know the players well enough to put them in the right position? Is DC keeping the leash to tight on Tormey? Is Tormey not the right D Coord for this team? Is the talent just not there? I don't know the answers to those questions, but I trust DC to get it figured out.

I admire your faith in DC. Mine is dwindling quickly. If we were 0-3 and losses were to Texas, Toledo and a decent midlevel d1 team like a USU, or Washington, etc I would be a little more hopeful. But losing to CA Poly and a virtually even spread going in to play a team like IDAHO, has be more depressed than a richard gere at a hampster slaughter house.

A couple things.

I don't believe DC and his assistants want to be losing. I think they want to win real bad. That's sort of the problem, isn't it? They have the desire, not the ability.

After a 3-9 season when he can't hold on to his #1 QB, if we came out at 1-3, I don't doubt there would have been some asking for his head. But we didn't, because the team didn't come out 1-3, so we all believed (hoped) that 2010 was just a bad year (sophmore jinx, palying a handful of ranked opponents, etc.). This year is the reality.
