sounds like we had an offensive explosion today. all three running backs were close to a hundred yards, with wick going for 146 on 14 carries... 10 yards per carry.

smith no interceptions. sounds like the redzone offense was effective... and the kicker was perfect on extra points and field goals.

Nulph tweeted that the defense was good early, but couldn't keep up. defensively most players were taking snaps with both first and second teams.

Well, sounds like the hurry-up offense is doing it's job. Defense, well, sounds like they're still figuring out roles.

Question about improving the defense...
If our offense is going balls out speed in practice, and making it hard for the D to keep up, will that be a good thing for the D when the season starts? Considering they will not be playing an offense that goes as fast as ours?
Or does the secondary get complacent since the WRs are wearing themselves out running routes then sprinting back to the line and doing it over?

Nehemie Kankolongo seems to be excelling in his move to LB he is having a good spring, in their first scrimmage he was one of the leaders in tackles and today he had an interception

Here is my recap on Poke Pride about the scrimmage today, defense had some nice plays and started strong but ended up losing, 101-41.

Having a feeling we are going to have to win with shootouts, which doesn't bother me if Smith stays healthy.

Almost everyone on here has stated that they enjoyed the 96 team and wished we were like them again. Sounds like we could be there again. All Offense having to shootout to win.

This scares me already - but this is the way I look at it. No matter how fast our offense is running, our defense is familiar with the schemes, the players, etc. Tormey needs to sit down and look at the tape and make some serious adjustments. Just because we may not face another fast paced offense doesn't mean we won't face talent. The offense is clearly demonstrating where our defensive weaknesses are and the defensive staff needs to take some time to develop play recognition and do some speed conditioning.

If Tormey's smart - he will dictate what the offense can and can't run. It doesn't sound like he is.

Fellas, it was the first scrimmage of SPRING ball. Spring ball is for working on new schemes, making adjustments, getting new players acquainted to the system. If the offense goes crazy on our D during the last scrimmage of the fall, then I'd be a little more worried.

Last spring we could not mount any running game at all. The passing game was just OK. The Defense dominated every scrimmage. I know that Brett was out all spring and Colby Kirkgard was the Qb, but still the defense looked stout. We all know how the defense performed last season. So I am happy that the defense came out and played tough for the most part, but ran out of gas. So they have potential on defense, now they just have to maintain that level of play for 4 quarters. You're right about seeing how they rebound defensively in next 2 scrimmages.

One thing I'm wondering is were is Trent Sewell? He hasn't had one reception in either srum so far. I kinda thought this kid would be making some waves. I don't think he injured but maybe I missed some news on him.
