From an Air Force Fan

The score was pretty much right what I expected (close game, one score, comes down to last possession), but I was surprised by AFA's quick strike passing attack in the first half and the way they stoned our running game. Granted, they were stacked at the line of scrimmage, but their top LB (Pierce) was everywhere. Felt like he had 20 tackles today.

Such a great game. Great crowd, great Air Force contingent of fans. Had you told me these two teams thrown for more yards than they rushed I'd have never believed it. What a great game. AF is a much better team than I was anticipating. They'll win a lot of games. Go pokes!

ITCpilot is a good one. The fans on their forum however...
Getting ugly over there!?!?
They think that we're still the same team as under DC, that we didn't make any adjustments, and that Kirk wasn't improving during the game, that they lost, not that we won.

I would say that AF probably should have won but we found a way and AF didn't finish it off

Well, two games in a row of what Bohl is known for. It was like watching our version of NDSU-KSU.

Here's thoughts from my blog on the game from an AF fan perspective. Note that I believe we could's, would'a and (don't shoot me as an AF fan for saying) should'a won this game if things had been done differently at times. Note for all the things I say in my blog about why we could'a won I give both your defense and passing offense praise for taking the win.

Good luck until we meet on the court in basketball which will see more of the same back and forth matchups we have come to expect between our two teams.

btw: It's over and done with now, but in watching the replay over and over, does anyone here think our guys knew was down on the fumble? Excellent stick by your defender but very close to the helmet to helmet. One thing I didn't mention was the excellent lack of penalties by you team. Penalties were the major deciding point in some ways of AF shooting themselves in the foot.

3 penalties in 2 games! This isn't be accident, this is a disciplined team. What a drastic change coaching has made!

Makes me wonder what DC did to "correct" those. Yell at the players? Whatever it was, it didn't work.

I don't think his knee was down, I think there could have been a helmet to helmet call but he didn't lead with the helmet they just collided at the point of impact due to the back being so low. TBH i think your back was knocked out on the hit and that is why he fumbled and like previous air force games where knocked out kids get back in I think it's a shame.

If you get knocked out in a game stay out, It's called a concussion.

Yep. And guess who put him back in...

There was no doubt he was knocked out. He went completely limp on the hit. We were watching the AFA doc administer the Concussion testing, and the back (32 I think) was wobbly and appeared very dazed. We thought for sure they wouldn't let him back in, and sure enough they handed him his helmet. A lot like the hit Kankolongo had on the kickoff last year, when that AFA player got knocked out, finished the game, then sat out the next week for concussion like symptoms. Ethical move by Mr. Howdy Doody.

Sadly, this isn't entirely on Calhoun; the blame should fall on the AFA Sports Medicine staff. Yes, a Head Coach should certainly have some responsibility for putting players on the field. Having said that, I doubt there is 1 college football Head Coach in the country that if his Head Athletic Trainer and Team Physician tell him a guy is good to go would still hold him out.

Tiny blame on Howdy Doody...maybe. BIG error on the AFA sports med staff...absolutely 100%

I read a quote by an AF player that the AF coaches treat an injured player like a leper. Pretty sad way to treat these guys. If i were a player i wouldn't want to treated like a piece of meat. On another note, what happened to the first big old fullback? I saw Uso Olive hit his knee and looked like a possible ACL tear. Also saw a lot of AF linemen use the leg whip on our D line. Even got flagged for it once. That's a chicken shit tactic that is still being taught to their players.
