That's a fair point, but again I will point out that we are in a position (and really were the entire season) where this season is a rebuilding/growing year (we weren't going to win any regular season championships), yet we still have potentially the best player in the conference in josh Adams. That always gives you a punchers chance in the tournament. We should be experimenting with every possible combination to try to find something to make a run in Vegas. Let Marshall play a game or two, if he bombs he bombs, but at least you gave it a try, especially considering he's a Jr. JC player.

I can see the logic behind your post, but I'd argue that we still need to focus on winning every game, and leave any experimenting on the practice court. You're right that the only postseason hopes have been at the tournament in Vegas this whole season, but it's fair to argue that trying to win every game and trying to get the best seed possible gives us a better chance of winning the tournament as opposed to experimenting and trying to figure ourselves out while losing extra games in the process.

Just imagine if Marshall was allowed to mess up 50,000 times and grow into his role, too. We'd have a 6'4'' freak athlete that can do things that Lieberman can't even dream of. Shyatt dropped the ball with Marshall big time.

As my thread title stated "us Morris Marshall fan boys" - considering I am one, I had to fess-up and face reality - he looked completely lost on the court Saturday - both sides of the ball - defense AND offense. Completely lost as in like 5th grade girls hoops lost. He was out of position everywhere, and his shot was so far off (0 for 2) it made Lieb's look like Steph Curry.

I wish I could find the recruiting thread on MM. Remembering back, I was wondering WTF we were going to do with him. Statistically he was mediocre, and was a JC guy. I may have to agree with you after I look back, Shyatt dropped the ball with him, but not the way you think he did.

Marshall's confidence is probably minuscule at this point and he has looked lost. It's a lost season for him now. If Shyatt wasn't going to play him why not redshirt him?

I can't remember the thread, but I think his JC stats were similar to recent JCs like Sobey and Martinez. I was hopeful.

But, I agree, he was recruited into a log jam at the wing position. Beating a dead horse's dead horse, Shyatt should have gotten a big man.

I'll add onto this, as I agree with Landerpoke. I don't think you can really judge Marshall based on 4 minutes of garbage time. I thought he looked OK and if he knocks in one or two of the 3s he attempted I imagine we'd be having a different conversation. Given his lack of PT up until now I don't think it's fair to judge him on those 4 minutes. At this point his goose is cooked as it is I suppose. I still believe that had he been given more of a chance on the court he could have developed into a much bigger player for us. And I agree with Landerpoke that with different lineups we could very easily have an additional couple of wins this year.

And you also can't judge how great he could be based on 2 good minutes of garbage time earlier this year, which some people seem to be doing

This is where I am. I haven't seen anything one way or the other to suggest that he does or doesn't deserve more time so I will default to the coaches. They're not dumb and are putting the best team they can on the court.

One thing I do like though is that the players really seem to like Marshall and are pulling for him to do good things when he gets in. Last game. Ou could see they were feeding him the ball trying to get him to score.
