Football Season?

What does the team look like this year?

Who is going to be the starting quarterback?

Are expectations pretty high in Laramie this year?

How hot is the seat under Coach Glenn?

I am just looking for a little info on the Cowboys this year. I try and follow the Cowboys from a distance, but don't get a whole lot of info on them down here. I don't get a whole lot of info on my OSU Cowboys down here either for that matter, it is all Sooners all the time.

Welcome to the board, osuwyopoke!

Our biggest question this year is how our new offensive coordinator will do? If he does well, I can see us winning 8-9 games but if he fails,......Glenn will be out of a job.

Where in Oklahoma are ya? I'm in OKC and desperately wanting to move away to Oahu but,.....

I moved from Sheridan to Mustang when I was a kid, so I grew up around OKC. Now, I live in the Panhandle. I keep telling my wife I want to relocate to the beach or the mountains, but she can't move that far away from her family.

I get a few Wyo games on satellite every year, so I do get to keep up a little bit. Hopefully, they can surprise and take the MWC.

Go Pokes

I moved to hell (OKC) in 1991 from Casper. Love Wyoming but don't want to move back due to three things:

1. it's not very handicapped accessible (I have celebral palsy)
2. too cold during the winter
3. too many screwy relatives there in Wyoming most of which lives in the Big Horn Basin area.

I agree with your description on OKC. I am not a big city person, I like a good small town. All of my family lives around the city, so we get back every now and then.

If I could ever find a job, I would to move back to Stillwater. I would love to be closer to my other Cowboys. I doubt that happens until my kids go to college there. I am not one for moving kids after they start school, so I will be out here for about 16 more years. :)

As far as Wyoming goes, I was just up there last week on vacation and the scenery was great, but I don't know if I could afford to live there. Sheridan is one expensive community.

From what I've heard, Cody and Jackson are far worse.

Stillwater is nice but the sooner I get out of OKC and Oklahoma in general the better. The BCS stench is really bad here. OU fans are so arrogant they make BYU fans look like saints!

Part of why I want to move to Oahu (Hawaii) is that I have a lot of close friends there whom I meet on-line at www.sportshawaii.com. Acouple of guys there every so often call me from Oahu and talk story with me before football games at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu.

Housing prices are going up all over the state, even in the Big Horn Basin, so my parents tell me. Used to be able to get a decent house in Worland for well under $100,000... I guess it's well over that now.

WOW! My grandmother just relocated from Greybull to Ralston. Wanted so much to move back to Cody but....

She loves Cody so much that it kinda gets my nerves.

Betca Casper is getting really bad. Love home but....been there done that. Want new scenry like palm trees, asian babes in bikinis every day of the year, no ice storms  , go surfing the waves with friends, teaching them about Wyoming athletics and in general and why the MWC had to be formed.

Casper's building like crazy, when I left in 2005. Huge subdivisions, new middle school in a nice new area (right where the wind can hit 'em), prices were getting crazy.

But enough of that... fall practice starts on Monday! Who's the QB this year.. Sween or ...?

I am going to Wyoming for the VERY first time in October and will be at the homecoming game vs. Utah. I will have a car to get around in and tailgate on.

Can anyone suggest a good spot for tailgating and give me some tips? I want to have a good time before and during the game before I have to leave town and head south to Denver.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Thanks
Mike

Cowboy Joe Club does tailgating.. not too sure how they treat non-members. There's a few bars around the stadium.. Holiday Inn Express has a bar, and the Library is across the street from the dorms. I'm sure the local party crew could probably fill you in better than I.

I went to the Library back in 2005 (I think - old age). Interesting place.

Library's fun..

Oh, and I need the obligatory plug for the Holiday Inn Express, my cousin manages the place, has a full bar, brand new hotel, I definitely recommend staying there. Walking distance to the stadium too! Tell them I sent you! :)

I think we stayed there once.

Warning: Do not laugh at the natives!

The first day of fall practice was yesterday. According to what Glenn has said, he expects to pick his starting QB after the first full scrimmage on Wednesday August 13th. Here we go. Here is a link to the story about the first practice:

Here's a Laramie Boomerang article with some more news about the team and practices:

It had been a couple yrs. since I was in Laramie, and I just got back from a week in Saratoga. Man, I am suprised how much Laramie has grown. We have 4 new, nice hotels close to the WAR, shopping, a few more restaurants. The city is moving on up. :) I think it could help our attendence b/c finding a room that was decent (or vacant) was a BIG problem for out of town travellers. Especially if the roads got bad.

Here is a link to an article from CST mainly about the part of our offense that was one of the biggest questionmarks - the offensive line:

Here is a link to a Boomerang article with a real in-depth report on where the Pokes are after Wednesday's practice:

Looks like the offense has a ways to go.
